Throne and freedom An update to Solisium’s Awakening is here and feels like a fresh starting point for the vast world built by Amazon Games and NCSoft. This starts with a new, inclusive and immersive player housing system that looks comparable to things like Final Fantasy 14 and World of Warcraft, but runs deeper. The combat side has options for another support weapon, improved progression, “Hyper Boost” feature, and you have the option to keep up where you want. No matter what you’re looking for, Throne and Liberty 3.0 is about to offer it.
The throne and freedom battles in the gorgeous world design and epic scale PVP battles make an impressive first impression, but so far it lacks some of the core aspects offered by the best MMORPGs. Solicium’s awakening is the answer to that. “Together, we’re not just playing games, we’re building a world,” says Tyco, Globalization Design Manager. Of all the changes, player housing is the most outstanding addition to me – I recently spoke with TICO about how I’m opening up MMOs to an entirely new audience.
To get things started, there are 24 residential locations to choose from across the villages of Castorton and Vienta, and there are four sizes of homes, ranging from “basilica” to large homes. You are not limited to a single one either. Your character can own up to four homes at once, and as you enter they are instanced when you enter, so that you can still see the city’s huffing around you. If you want to keep issues on your case-by-case invitation list, you can set it up freely.
Naturally, turning a house into a home is about freedom of expression and decoration, mostly introducing new furniture crafting skills. The throne and liberty collection system has been dramatically expanded with the addition of logging, mining, fur gatherings and foraging. In addition to this, there are four processing skills: woodworking, forging, weaving and handmade. If you’re the first home builder, Tyco says, “In most cases, players can enjoy the home completely without constantly involved in combat.”
However, if you’re fantasizing about scrap, there are plenty of solicium awakenings. The new support weapon, ORB, allows you to place up to three spheres on the battlefield or attach them to characters. This can be used to affect your and your teammate’s movements, damage output and other abilities. “Getting orbs is about strategic sphere management,” says Tico.
On the PVP side of things, you can expect a full upgrade, but the big addition is the battlefield. This is the long-standing community request since its launch, starting with a 24-24 variant. If you’re interested in PVE, the Dungeon Style Dimension Exam has been revamped with weekly rankings that grant two newcomers, better payments, and additional rewards based on performance. Crossing Russ and Stone Guard you will encounter a new layer of “ascended” field bosses with greater challenges and loot.
If you’re new to the game or want to level out fresh characters, you can increase your rates while getting all the basics of the experience by introducing the free “hyperboost” feature. In addition to this, the “Path of the Stars” appears. This provides a beginner’s guide system, and “Ascension Path” that helps you recommend character build and weapon combinations.
Naturally, Endgame is expanding even further. Tier 3 gear is here and you can earn it from dungeons, dimension tests, boss battles, PVPs, contract coin merchants and more. Use the Growth Regime and follow the familiar upgrade path up to +12. To accommodate this, the characteristics have been overhauled, with rune level caps being raised from 90 to 120, with new enhancements in all ranges and ways to get them.
It’s a large part of the major content changes, but there’s a lot that longtime players will find in Throne and Liberty 3.0. Character movements are refined to improve responsiveness. FALL damage is capped and can no longer cause less than 10% health, except when PVP, instance, or “falling from a very high place.” There are changes in combat balance and new equipment effects based on the type of material. The menus that include Adventure Codex and Extra Codex have been improved, and technical tweaks should help improve overall performance.
Solisium’s Awakening, Throne and Liberty Update 3.0 are currently live. You can play the game for free on Steam. Courtesy of Amazon Games and NCSoft, read the full patch details and see how much has changed. Additionally, first-time players will have a 50-day “New User” buff.
