ARPG fans are about to be selected again as the developer’s 11th hour game lifts the lid. The last era Season 3. We’re still just over a month from Diablo 4 season 10, but Path, the next update for Exile 2, will be coming in a few weeks. But for now, my attention is directed straight to the new final epoch update, “Under the Ancient Sky.” With the addition of chapter 10 of the campaign and some dramatic reworks for the proficiency of the Acolyte class and its lake and necromancer, it takes you on a “primitive hunt” over some of the toughest beasts ever seen in Etera.

If you haven’t played the last epoch yet, I would once again highly recommend its stunning environment, flavorful classes, highly customizable builds, and gear designs that feel friendly but deep. It strikes a great balance between the simplicity of Diablo 4 and the path of exile depth, creating one of the best games like Diablo in the middle. On top of that, there’s a best-in-class booty filter that allows you to easily personalize in-game, even if you’re a relative beginner. It also has more storage space to maintain the extra collection than even the most dedicated hoarders can meet. In season 3, EHG expands in the least used part of the ancient era, an old-fashioned story.

You’re easily tasting dinosaur land early in the story of the last Epoch, but we’re about to spend more time in prehistoric territory through the new chapter 10. From dense forests to snowy peaks, it looks absolutely spectacular thanks to another graphics upgrade, including more background creatures and updated water shaders. I’m so impressed with the visual leap from early access to 1.0 that I’d like to see this in person.

The main mechanic in Season 3 is Primal Hunt. This is a bit similar to the nemesis system, but requires tracking prey and tracking it through the cleft to the breeding ground. These areas are filled with deadly enemies that drop new currency called ancient bones instead of regular gold, and after fighting through them, you will eventually encounter your main target, Rift Beast. These offer you worthy rewards that match particularly bad challenges, but beating them isn’t over.

When Rift Beast falls, you are given the choice to evolve the lineage in one of three directions, affecting both abilities along with potential future payments. You can keep building up evolution, but if things get out of hand, there’s always an option to reset your lineage and start fresh.

The Last Epoch Season 3 - Players evolve the Lift Beast.

Various primitive materials and ancient bones gathered from the crevices and the gardens, the new region of Chapter 10, can be brought into the Wengali Hunt Master Skullvin Bloodhorn, and they can be cashed for powerful items. The new primitive gear comes in two unique and noble varieties, which work similarly to the base game equivalents, but with even more power at your disposal. The downside is that you can only equip a single primitive item (of either type) at a time.

In addition to this, there is a new craft item, The Rune of Evolution. This allows you to change standard noble items with at least one tier 7 affixes to a tier 8 version. EHG says these are very powerful upgrades, “often giving 50% to 100% more than the existing Tier 7 affix.” The better news is that primitive sealed affixes do not occupy the standard sealed affix slot, so even if you’re really lucky, you might end up with a noble item of six affixes.

Also, upon arriving in Season 3, there will be a rework to one of my favorite final epoch classes, Acolyte. Expect a number of changes throughout the basic acolite, necromancer, and Rich Master, including changes in harvest, death seals, and scary shades. EHG offers an early teaser looking at one skill for each. For example, the core “Rip Blood” skill attacks all enemies in front of you, rather than targeting a particular enemy.

The

Necromancer’s “hate” abilities have been redesigned by combining various summons into a single powerful beast. It no longer erodes health over time, and it remembers the minions that were constructed, and revives health by devouring such types of nearby creatures. Please note that it does not affect other players’ minions.

“Aura of Decay” was an early powerhouse that has been forgotten since then, but has been returned “as a powerful option for Rich’s toolkit.” Reducing the damage to the poison you have suffered is not very effective, but you will now receive 50% less damage from your own aura of collapse. All three abilities above have acquired dramatic overhauls in individual skill trees. This is a detailed study thanks to the developer’s blog.

Both Rich and Necromancer have also acquired some new passive nodes. Using Rich’s “Executioner” will make you a threat to equip a dagger or x at hand and wielding duals, while “Cursed Feast” will make the effect of Hill much stronger, but it drops faster. The “Forbidden Teaching” of the Necromancer gives intelligence and vitality, extends minions with both statistics, and the reworked “Efiguy” causes the percentage of damage you incur to redirect to your minions, and heals the remaining groups when one of them dies.

The new

Today’s teaser is concluded by the brand new rich skill “Frey.” This hybrid between a brawl and a spell will allow you to step short distances towards your enemy, deal with narrow rising slashes, and the enemy that killed them will explode in an explosion, causing physical damage to your surroundings. Of course, there is a unique, complete passive tree that can empower it or change how it works. Maybe you want to destroy your aura to the enemy you hit, or you might want to do cold damage with the opportunity to freeze instead.

The final Epoch Season 3 will be released on Thursday, August 21st. The 11th hour game promises more teasers to the landing. We will bring you the most details.

For now, curve everyone in your way with the best hack and slash games of 2025. If you want to prepare for a new final epoch update, it’s the perfect place to grab the best gaming mouse.
