Tabletroopers are that mixed reality games in your quest should be everything.
If you grew up on PC in the mid-90s or played many sequels that followed, you’ll scream “worms” like in the tactical strategy game series. But it innovates in the mold and there’s more room for it. This is perfect to complement your library of games to compete against Millennials, Gen Alphas, VR rookies and veterinarians. There’s no need to “easy” for everyone to enjoy.
What is it? : A casual tactical strategy game for 1-3 players hoping for a fun 15-minute fight.
Platform: Quest (played in Quest 3)

Developer: Cosmorama

Core Gameplay: Multiplayer Tactics
You can keep it simple: blow up everyone on the other team.
The default multiplayer setting for Table Trooper is equipped for that purpose. Each player starts with a suite of robust weapons that include powerful bazookas and explosives. Item boxes randomly blow peppers between battlefields.
But there is joy in the nuance.
I’m not sure the standard combat settings are the best. In default mode, you rarely have to try a pistol or shotgun, as you start with enough power weapons and collect enough from the impending box of loot. If the gun could *blankly* miss or be suffering over short range, or if the rena bullet could bounce irregularly, the bazooka fires straight and explodes with impact, resulting in extremely overwhelming.

I find the alternative game types more rewarding. One option limits the initial inventory to only pistols and fish (of course, melee weapons are oversized fish). Shifts the risk/reward profile of the item box. Alternatively, if you adjust the loot, drop it into “Health Items Only” then players must be much more tactical about the rare starting kit. But for each of them!
Turns spin between players on each team and within the remaining soldiers. If you’re crafty, you can intuitively leave soldiers exposed who are sure will be several rounds before nearby enemies can attack.
Table troopers can stand and sit in MR or VR. Your character is still. You can rotate the board smoothly with the joystick, or use the grip button to move/rotate the board. Therefore, players should have minimal concern about motion sickness.
The controls make quick and intuitive use of the quest’s motion sensor, main trigger and grip buttons.
Aiming and firing are where gameplay shines brightest. Like a worm, each weapon provides a laser sightline, with some (like a sniper rifle) offering higher accuracy. The third dimension of Table Troopers (Over Worms ‘2D) offers greater control and more rewarding payoffs. You can operate the entire board with your desired gaze. It’s difficult!
Solo Campaign
Tabletroopers will run a solo campaign if they don’t have the game and companions yet. I hope that the campaign doesn’t confuse me as a chapter 1 where I can’t clean the tutorial, but joining a real campaign has mixed challenges that test my temperament.
You may need to grab the weapon and then hide it until the “next” player of the CPU is at a safe distance. You can avoid trying to blow up the CPU completely, and use extra energy in order to compete on the map and pick up keys. These tactics are not explicitly explicit at the directions of each level, so it’s thrilling when I reveal them and unfold them.
The Table Troopers stand out as a joy to play across the room from friends in a way that currently has little matching VR titles. Certainly, it’s temporarily strange to see my counterpart avatar floating next to his actual headset bearing body – there’s no local cooperative colocation yet – but then it’s double funny to see both the body and the avatar suffering and raising their hands after an important mistake.
I fondly reminiscent of the moment my friend’s wife crossed the room, calling out, “Sorry! I don’t want to interrupt and get in the way!” It’s often a VR issue, but in this case, with MR, that’s not the problem. I could see her coming a mile away. There was plenty of pause in the action. There weren’t even wild co-works of Lego with rugs to incorrectly intervene.
Here, the tabletroopers shed light on an ambitious and optimistic future. Oddly ironic, my nose is not “buried” in my device, despite the headset being tied to my face. While playing digital tabletop style games, we all just enjoyed each other’s company. Boot: No matter how many times it explodes in the game, no need to clean up!
Table Trooper Review – Current Verdict
Tabletroopers will be a fun mixed reality title to watch Blossom. More game types! More weapons! Characters with different attributes! Custom map! ? It’s a tactical tabletop delight in Quest 3 and there’s no need to wait. What you’re here is the joy that’s already out of the box today, so turn it around. The bombs get away!
