Persona 5 Phantom X returns and raids our wallets.

Persona 5 Phantom X returns and raids our wallets.

Persona 5 Phantom x The operations teams at Sega’s Global Server and Japanese servers have written to fans who promised a major change in the besieged gacha fuel spinoff. This follows months of grievances and intense reviews of steam over the seemingly silly pull rates and the eye-opening rhythm of updates that have made it difficult for players, including myself, to maintain. Not all of my wish list is working on, but it’s a significant improvement that can save it from the guillotines in the velvet room.

I love Persona. One of the best turn-based RPG games ever, Persona 5 is the only 100-hour marathon I’ve been tied up over and over. I was cautiously optimistic about the launch of the Alt-Universe Gacha Spinoff, Persa5 The Phantom X. However, it wasn’t the gameplay that gave me the ICK (Lufel is my boy), but I couldn’t hack the pace of the Segaran Global version (which also runs the Japan server).

On its own, it’s not So Bad, but notable changes between two versions of the game compound the problem. First, there are times when additional resources that can be perceived that can help compensate for the fact that character banners are rifled earlier than usual. Additionally, the P5X uses a GACHA system called a “contract.” This, on the surface, has a soft patty system that is far more ruthless than what many are used to. This meant that on average I would hit disappointing caps more frequently than the other best gacha games Staples, which happened to me when pulling the Joker. Together, this witch’s concoction of slugs, snails and puppy dog tails makes a brew that is too bitter to swallow.

This is the nature of Gacha Godzilla, but the handling of Sega’s servers is down like slime slushy with players. According to SteamDB, at the time of writing the peak simultaneous player count, there are few tenths of what was pulling at the time of release. Recent steam reviews averaged “almost negative.” Two months after P5X opened its door to the west, the OPS team finally responded with an open letter.

“Greetings, thief” It begins. “We appreciate your patience and continued support. Since launching this June, we have received a considerable amount of player feedback and we are listening to the feedback.

“In this letter, we want to answer your questions and concerns regarding the light of future updates, particularly regarding the feedback we have received so far, especially the Chinese/Asian version, and the differences from the contract system.”

Persona 5 Phantom X Developer Response: P5X's current pathetic system

Changelog is broad and overall a huge positive for players. The current 80/80 sympathy system has been replaced by 110 pathetic systems introduced in China and other countries. Six months after the P5X was released there, it’s coming much earlier. With the current system, you have a 50/50 chance to hit the 5-star thief of Premium Banners before reaching 80 pull. If you lose a coin toss, you will be guaranteed within the next 80. At best, you get the character you want with a pull of 80 (with FREAK 0.8% roll aside), but at worst you’re gunning 160. Now, if you don’t hit 5 stars early, you’ll get the “most wanted” thief within 110 pulls.

In theory, unless you have divine luck, this is on average much more free and friendly. Sega continues to maintain whether soft sympathy exists and whether it has to be how aggressive it is. PCGN has requested comment from publishers and will inform them if they ask anything.

Persona 5 Phantom X Developer Response: P5X Current Banner

Elsewhere, Sega says it will add a new way to stock tickets and currency to offset the quick patch rhythm. Furthermore, you can get 5 star weapons with Minami-awareness from the “special campaign” and produce equivalents to China and BROS that have already received them.

Speaking of Minami, Sega has maintained the attitude of adding Minami and Yumi to the standard banner six months after a limited banner run. It’s an unnecessary delay in my book, but at least it means that it’s long to save the gold tickets of the best Sustain Characters in the Persona 5 The Phantom X Tier list.

You can read the full letter here. This gives a glimpse into what Sega will cook for future versions. Most notably, the future addition of thief cognitite fragments.

Persona 5 Phantom X Developer Response: Wondering on the Street

Everything is explained, this is a very promising update and, if executed properly, we can see global and Japanese servers riding on the serious post-release criticism they have received. There are so many things about the P5X, but I hate seeing it get hampered by suspicious decisions. It’s a positive indication of intentions from Sega and I’m seriously considering coming back when the changes are finished.

If you’re enjoying the P5X, make sure you stay above the latest Persona 5 The Phantom X code. Or, if you’re not ready to come back yet, check out more of the best JRPGs you can play.
