Total Warhammer 3 tides The next big extension to the Colossal Strategy game, developer Creative Assembly recently spent putting it back in the kitchen and cooking something special a little more. Now it’s finally ready to show off its work. In the new CA Developer Chat, Senior Community Manager Nastiadrugoseyeva will join Senior Game Director Rich Aldridge, Lead Battle Designer Mirchova Shirev and DLC Game Director Todolnikolov to discuss what you can expect from the New Look High Elf and the corresponding TWW3 7.0 update.
The enormous scale of Total Warhammer 3 has a basic dignity. This achieves an impressive feat of being the most widely and comprehensive product of the many Great Warhammer games available today. For all the ups and downs over the years, it remains worthy and stubborn in choosing the best strategy game on PC. So the CA’s recent decision to curb the next DLC came from a desire to ensure a future filled with highs rather than lowest.
“We took the DLC into playable state, started playtesting, received feedback, and found out we weren’t hit the high quality bar we set up for ourselves,” explains Nikoloff. “We needed more time to ensure that players’ first day experiences were what they wanted to see.” The developers did a good job regaining public opinion of past disappointments, such as the shadow of change, but this time they want to get things out of the gate quickly and please those who buy it at launch.
Slaanesh Legendary Lord DeChala and Norsca’s Sayl join the pack is Elf Prince Aislin. As Ursuan’s lord of the sea and naval commander, Aldridge says he is “extremely different” to other High Elves, bringing a lot of voyage flavor to his progression. “He was just brutal to Ursuan’s enemies,” Nikolov said. “He’s a single-minded thing about chasing his targets. This is usually a realistic or perceived threat to the High Elf.”
“He really thinks offense is the best defense,” laughs Vasirev. Aislin is more than just a master tactician. He roams around in the battle with a double-minded sword and his distinctive tabletop tricks that amplify the prowess of his remote units.
“It’s been a while since we last updated the High Elf, but they needed some love,” says Nikoloff. “We know that a lot of players really want to play them.” So we can expect a wider upgrade to the entire race, such as allowing coalitions to be formed between the various factions. Some of the existing High Elves’ legendary lords will also be improved: “We really want Techris to be one of the great magicians there,” Basirev gives a hint.
Of course, you can expect a lot of new units too. Skycutters – the infamous flying tank pulled by the amazing Eagles – joins the lineup in two variations. Some characters, including Aislinn, can also use them as personal mounts. Of course, you can expect many sailor options too. Oceanids are powerful animal infantry made from water and are extremely resilient to physical damage, but the brother The Sea Elemental is even more proud.
The hero is the mist magician. It acts as a support caster that can buff or buff remote units or move shadows to stealthly cover up. They can even summon Oceanids directly to the battlefield. It will match the animation in the hopes that Aislinn will pose a serious threat from afar. “We really put a lot of time and effort into trying to do a little more out there,” says Aldridge.
You can expect similar polishes from other factions. Slaanesh gets a new dark elf unit and “general passes like high tech, buildings, everything people enjoy. We think they are in pretty good condition at the moment,” explains Aldridge. “We look around the cult, and if we can make improvements there, around the sacred manifestation.
Norsca undergoes an overhaul of its huge arcanum. “We’re changing the way you hunt monsters. They’ll now be more region-specific,” reveals Vasilev. Nikoloff emphasizes that the team is considering ways to better capture Norsca’s looting tendencies, and note that even if you don’t own the original Norsca DLC, you’ll still get all the factional ints units in Sayl.
The focus of the tide of suffering is once again in the immortal empire mode. Aldridge points out that all three of the new characters have a specific narrative path that they can follow, but adds that they can be freely played in a more sandboxed way if necessary. For example, DeChala is encouraged to use the slars she invites to service to build a “really gorgeous palace of joy.”
Nikoloff says that Creative Assembly is currently planning to release a tide DLC “somewhere in late October” but will have to wait until it approaches for an exact date.
