Features
The Revosim Direct Drive Kit is modular, but there is the option of removing the wheel from the wheelbase and adding other accessories, but is currently only available as a complete set. So the RS pure bundle neatly packs the wheelbase, steering wheel and two-pedal set in one rather huge box.
A closer look at the individual parts of the kit, its outstanding feature is its powerful direct wheelbase. The RS’ pure wheelbase outputs 9nm of torque. This is the level of twist that the wheels can exert when trying to mimic the power the driver feels when holding the real wheels in a real car. This isn’t as torquey as the Thrustmaster T818 or Logitech G Pro, but it’s far more than the entry-level wheels and plenty other than the ambitious eSports drivers.
When it comes to pedals, the limitation of two pedals (rather than three) is a bit surprising for a more premium set like this, but there are still some quality features. In particular, the brakes have a load cell of 100kg, allowing for accurate and progressive braking response. It also comes with a variety of elastomers that can be easily replaced to adjust the brake feel. The throttle and brakes arrive peeling off the base plate and can be easily installed with the selection of pre-drilled holes, or can be mounted directly on the rig’s pedal plate if you like.
The wheel rim has two aluminum gear paddles on the back, with 12 mapable buttons, a directional stick and one rotating wheel. This gives you plenty of buttons to enjoy any game. It also includes a set of various colored button fronts and stickers, allowing you to fully customize it to your liking.
The wheelbase is easy to install and has rails for the T-nuts on the four sides of the base. Perfectly fits the GT Omega Prime Cockpit. This is not necessarily the case with some of our competitors. It also includes a desk mount, which is very easy to install too.
The socket for power supplies, optional shifters, optional handbrakes, pedals, and main USB-C connection from the system to the PC are located on the back of the wheelbase, making it very easy to connect everything.
The Revosim RS Pure Bundle includes a phone mount that can be mounted on the top of the wheelbase, allowing you to make the most of your HUD features and watch your favorite shows while cruising.
Companion apps are great for adjusting the wheelbase output and customizing the wheel’s LED lights. Comes with 4 feedback preset profiles. GT, F1, rally, lifestyle. Everything is completely customizable, but a great baseline with maximum steering angle, force feedback strength, inertia and damper effects is all set in the right place for each field.
This app is also available on mobile. You can make adjustments on the spot by linking the wheelbase to your phone via Bluetooth. It can also act as a HUD for some games, including the F1 25.
design
The Revosim looks like a high quality wheel. There is very little plastic. The wheelbase’s refined black metal design offers many mounting options. A small drawback to the design is that the power button is located on the back of the wheelbase. This makes the front look good and clean, but it’s a little less user-friendly.
The wheel rim itself is beautiful. The 30cm/12 inch diameter wheels are wrapped in faux leather and have a solid aluminum paddle shifter. All buttons are within the thumb sweep when driving, providing a satisfying feeling when pressed.
However, the paddle shifter is a bit less satisfying. They lack the stiffness of the buttons, which makes them prone to occasional double shifting. If you had to speculate about where some of the cost savings were made, then it’s here. The quick release system has anodized green design very simple and elegant. You will not wrestling with it to take off your wheels.
Quality continues with the pedals. The pedals are very modular and customizable. It features hole effect technology for accurate, contactless control, and the load cell elastomer comes with the softest already installed, making it easy to access. Just like the wheelbase, the pedals are easily mounted on the cockpit pedal deck.
performance
So, if Nacon Revosim’s features and design are all impressive, how does it perform? Well, that’s another strong show here too.
The 9nm wheelbase provides punch to the race. It gives you all the details of the road below you and you can feel the weight of the car you are driving.
The smooth Formula 1 circuit only has the curb crying intrude you, feeling like a dream, pushing the car to the limits of its grip. However, once you enter the GT3 car, the weight of the machine and surface bumps turn into a wrestling match, where you are fighting to keep the car where you want it. Smooth input and accurate car control fuse wheel rounds with muscularity.
We first took the RS to Assetto Corsa Compeizione and spent a few rounds around Alton Park, and the immediacy of the feedback was amazing. Everything from the swells and unevenness of the truck to the slipping of the tires and the mass of the car was at my fingertips.
Intake of RS on the loose surfaces of EA Sports WRC gave me the opportunity to shine. Here, the ability to add dampers and friction to the app’s wheels was key to creating an experience that suits the surface of the stage. The loose gravel rumble and zero gravity drifting through the snow will intoxicate you, even if you need shifter and handbrake accessories to truly shine in the rally.
price
The Nacon Revosim RS Pure Bundle price is $799.90/£699.90/€799.90. This is a very competitive price range for wheels of this quality, and while approaching this price, direct drive options will hit you, providing a lot of power or including many accessories.
With the high quality of the build and a total lack of molded plastic, you can definitely see where the money went. You’ll also feel the investment when you turn the wheels with full power and anger.
verdict
The RS Pure Bundle is a great first step into Nacon’s Sim Racing hardware world. Their new Revosim brand will sway from all directions and notify other manufacturers.
The combination of high build quality, sensational feel and competitive pricing is a win. Some people are deferred from the base that has a “only” 9nm output, but that’s really good enough for most sim racers, and if you’re planning on pinning it to a desk or folderway wheel stand.
The only downside is that when you buy one you buy the entire Revosim ecosystem. This is not as developed as some of its rivals. No other wheel rims are available at the moment. This means that if you want a formula-style rim, you should expect Nakhon to eventually produce it. Aside from that small issue, we thoroughly enjoy our time with the RS pure bundle.
