new Raven’s Watch I updated my dream hourglass and might have sprung straight out of my imagination. In the Passtech Games fairy tale Roguelike Arpg, a friend and me had that extraordinary flavour and a smart twist on it. Now, that next big overhaul offers some exciting ways to adapt playstyles, introducing more risk and reward decisions along the way. However, that’s only the beginning. There are new quests, events and activities to discover, and it’s the perfect time to discover why we’ve achieved an excellent 86% positive steam review score so far.
Raven’s Watch quickly caught the attention when he played on Gamescom in 2024. There are simple comparisons to fascinate with Hades, but PasTec puts its own spin on its own Prosis and stands out among the best logliques with unique construction. Each character is a dark fairytale favorite that plays like a ready-made Diablo build, from the inventor Geppett and his army of dolls to the Romeo and Juliet pairing that can become synergistic with each other and dive together in a devastating embrace that opposes you around you. That’s some of the most fun things I’ve had in the cooperative game for a long time.
Each stage of the campaign is a big open world where you can freely explore, but there are big warnings. You run the 18-minute 3-day and 3-night course, and once you reach the end, you are thrown into a battle with the “Master Nightmare” of the region, ready or not. It has proven to be a bit divisive, but I love it. The pressure it adds is to make a series of decisions that run all the way, wherever you want to spend your time. Now, the Dream Hourglass is set up to make the Raven’s Watch even better signing capabilities.
“For a long time, players have been seeking some kind of reward to cause early master nightmares,” Passteck said. Between yours can Finish the boss battle whenever you like. There is no real reason to do so when the remaining seconds of the clock can be used to maximize the build. However, at the beginning of the next chapter, at the beginning of the dream, if you start the battle, at the beginning of the next chapter, you can claim additional rewards from the hourglass, which is bequeathed by the dream. It reminds me of the Dead Cell Bonus Room, which awards large payments for speed running throughout the level. This sounds like a satisfying risk/reward mechanic as well.
As for the timer itself, there will be another gambling. “The idea of adding time to the timer has always been in our minds, but we couldn’t do it without a trade-off,” explains Passtech. “The game is built around this timer and can be removed completely with modifiers, but this takes away the nature of the game, tension, choice pressure and storytelling.” The team’s answer is a new mechanic called “overtime.”
Once the first 18 minutes have finished, you will automatically enter an overtime period that can last up to three minutes, giving you room to decide whether to complete the current event or upgrade to purchase at the Sandman’s Shop. The problem is that Master Nightmare can take advantage of these extra moments. The longer you spend overtime, the more attack power and health the boss accumulates. If you want to avoid this, you can activate the battle as soon as the period begins. There is no penalty for the first few seconds.
These additions are already enough to tickle my fantasies, but Dreams’ hourglass update has more stuffing. Three new optional quests have been introduced to increase the variety. In Dark Hills, three pig quests can be replaced by Jack and Beans Stoke. On Storm Island, you can find Sinbad in another predicament as you are searching for treasure in a cave guarded by Simoog, the Titanic rock. In Avalon, Morgan helps save King Arthur’s crown from her nasty, illegal son, Mordred.
Finishing the update is a new random activity, a leprechaun cauldron. This serves as a potentially valuable source of dream fragments, but you need to defeat surrounding enemies as quickly as possible. Once everything is gone, you can freely request your award. This update is free, but PasStech is rolling out a new DLC pack of paid cosmetic skins along with it. This includes skull-covered scar-colored fireworks and new forms of Aladdin and Mermaid Queen Mercin.
The Ravenswatch Dourglass of Dreams Update will be available for free on Thursday, September 18th. Arrived with it, the Cosmetic Timeless Skin Pack costs $3.99/£3.39. You can get some extra glimpses into what’s going on in the PasStech Developer Blog.
