In this first phase, the Perfect Bride Fanlin begins the fight by jumping towards the ceiling and sending four corrosive bolts towards you. Try to get Skyborn as much as possible. But don’t spend it yet. Fang Lin lands and waits for her to make her next move. She can follow up with various moves, but depending on where you stand, you can taunt her to use a specific attack.
You can force Fan Lin to resort to another long-range attack by maintaining distance. Give a window and use the Skyborn power of the build-up to throw multiple echoes of Rubinzhan’s spear. However, the better option is to fill in the gaps for her. By doing this, she takes charge of the heavy attack and leaves her wide open.
Deflecting her attack will make her trip or fall completely, making her vulnerable to at least two blade shaking. This applies to most of her sword attacks. This is exactly why we are going to resort to damage this method.
When she wakes up, she usually leaves you before deciding on the next attack. She may surprise you with a swirling barrage of healing items, so keep it at bay. However, due to the short casting time, there is enough time to activate the sacred ward using embedded skybones, reducing the amount of incoming damage received for about 30 seconds. Fang Ling has access to combos that can kill you as soon as you turn Deflect or Dodge into mist, so it’s important to activate this spell as much as possible. Once the spell is active, you can survive at least two combos before you need to replenish your health.
Whenever Fang Lin decides to fire a projectile, she retreats on the red trail following her to mean attack. To dodge the first projectile, use the time between attacks to restore or reapply the Tobacco effect. There is a moment when you stare at each other – if you make the first move, Fang Lin will deflect your attack. But she takes a lot of time to hit you and you can deflect her counterattack. Don’t be afraid to attack first, as you can take advantage of this many times throughout the fight.
After four deflections, you should be very close to breaking her calm. Keep an eye on your stamina bar as you will need to launch and land an explosive strike. If stamina spends her time landing a combo to break her calm, you may miss this window, so be very careful here as this is a great opportunity to remove a quarter of her remaining health. This stage of the fight works almost this way, so if you follow the pattern you can see her second phase.
Chimera Fan Lin Boss Guide
Fanlin transforms into a chimera in the second phase, opening up a battle with the beast’s roar. Be careful, this attack can cause you to be wobbled unless you are equipped with a Dracolich pendant. Keep your distance to avoid roar, take this chance, reapply your liquor and revitalize God’s ward.
Chimera will be released straight away at you three times, but you can afford to take this hit, as it does not do much damage. Even if you hit, you’re still on the ground, so you’re rarely going to do any damage with follow-up blows. By the time the attack ends, snuggle up to the other side of the arena. Use this opportunity to gain the potential of Skyborne in preparation for the next attack string.
When you see the chimera jumping into the air, it will try to attack you as you land. Once you start firing a red laser beam into the ground, move towards the side of the monster and begin slamming its body. If you temporarily stop locking to the target and aim at its body manually, it may be easier to land a hit during this laser attack.
There are two laser attacks, a 360 beam and a horizontal beam. With a 360 beam, it’s not difficult to avoid the initial laser, but be careful of explosions that follow the attack. Do not attack during this sequence. Use it as a chance to gain Skyborn’s power. As for the horizontal beam, this is a good time to activate the echo of Lu Bingzhang whenever the laser takes advantage of its effect and prevents damage during animation.
If you need to heal, you need to create a big gap between your chimera and yourself to avoid that widespread blow. Chimera usually attacks you with one or two swipes when you get close to you, stopping you from performing long combos without interruption. Whenever a chimera tries to hit multiple times with the same string, this is the window to start a long attack string.
When you lower the chimera to 50%, a laser blows into the ceiling, causing a huge molten rock to fall onto the ground. During this time, you need to point your camera towards the ground and give yourself the clearest view of the imminent projectile, represented by a white outline. These outlines will only be visible for a few seconds, but they should be enough time to know if you can cry to your boss in a series of strikes. Once that health drops to 50%, you should be closer to breaking that calm. Just like a perfect bride, you can drop to 25% in seconds, so make sure you land an erased strike.
After falling below 50% health, the chimera has some additional attacks. Fortunately, it rarely uses them, so the only real threat to be aware of is the repeated explosion of ceiling lasers. Otherwise, it should be smooth sailing as long as you remember not to commit to long combos.
