Hollow Knight: Are you trying to get through the Deep Docks area of Silksong? Deep Dock represents a notable step up in difficulty from the early regions of Hollow Knight: Silkson. It may not be an overly large area, but here are some real challenges waiting for you – not to mention some well-hidden collectibles, NPCs that are convenient to meet, and one of my favorite boss fights.

Deep Dock Walkthrough Steps:
- Unlock start benches, maps, and fast travel.
- Explore the north.
- You’ll be immersed in the hunter’s march.
- Unlock Swift steps to sprints and dashes.
- Rescue the second flea.
- Unlock nearby shortcuts on the bench.
- Explore the South.
- Bravely bravely on hot coal for spool fragments.
- Explore your chest further south.
- Enter the gauntlet and find the Forge Girl.
- Use the Swift step to unlock the path to the race.
1. Unlock Start Bench, Maps and Fast Travel.
From the entrance to the deep dock, plow right to right until you pass the elevator. Put it on top, then place the second elevator on top. Here you can insert 30 rosaries into the convenient starting benches in the area.
Once that’s done, you’ll get off the elevator and go to the next room and immediately hear the song of the mapmaker Shakura. She’s just below you, so drop down and talk to her. If you have 50 rosaries, buy a deep dock map immediately. It always helps you buy in-game maps for new areas as quickly as possible.
The final part of the “setup” phase of the Deep Dock is to leave the doorway just above and on the left of the Shakra location. It is the doorway where the sign points to it. Head there, pay 50 rosaries (if any) and open a fast trip to and from this place.
If you have too few rosary beads to afford all three of these, it may be best to spend a few minutes.
2. Explore the north.
Return to the room where you found Shakura, scale the various shelves and climb higher, jumping to the right if possible. You can see the entrance and exit on the right almost half, and the shelf with a lever below it.
Pull the lever to raise the nearby platform to make it easier to get into the doorway. From the doorway there is a small room containing only the enemies of the Bell helmet. Kill them and finish.
Continue climbing into the main room and on the left there is another lever that will allow you to reach the top level. Exit from the doorway on the top right.
This next room is pretty easy – just walk past all the enemies and all the lava little by little until you reach the very far upper right corner. Above the best platforms there are orange rocks on the ceiling. Hit it to explode. Open the north passage.
Heading straight from this point, another bench will be able to unleash another 30 rosaries. Probably a good idea at this point.
3. You’ll be immersed in the hunter’s march.
Your goals are even higher. Climb the shelf and beware of the small ants you encounter. Because they are extremely brave in the face of a Hornet needle and may sneak into a hit regardless of knockback.
Climb to the top and go off-screen and enters a new, unknown biome. This is technically a hunter march, but it has been closed from other parts of the area and staying here is temporary.
Once there, head left and you will have to defeat the Ant enemy gauntlet to continue. Once they’re all dead, drop the hole over the arena and carefully turn the passage down the lower side. Along the way, the shelf on the left is protected by flying ants, and the narrow passageway faces upwards. Follow this path and head downwards with a worn rosary thread at the top.
4. Unlock quick steps to sprints and dashes.
Once you’ve spiked, unlock the shortcut near the last bench by pounding the orange rock at the end of the pass on the right. But then it continues to head over the spikes.
In the next room, simply head left and you will soon find another monument. You interact with it and bind when asked to unlock the next (and in some respects, the best) skill: Swift Step.
Swift Step is your Dodge skill, not only dodge attacks, but also allows you to reach far more than before while jumping. Not only that, but by reducing the Swift step, the Hornet can sprint very quickly. It’s a real game changer and you’re happy you got this this early.
5. Rescue the second flea.
With your new Dodge, Parkour will rise to your left high-up metal ledge. There are levers on the walls that attack. At the top of this path is a small flea trapped in one of the rocky eggs. Attack it to release the flea.
6. Unlock nearby shortcuts on the bench.
A simple step before continuing – go down to the bottom of the room and press the lever above the door to open it. This doorway will return to its first bench at the start of the deep dock, allowing you to rest before spending your soldiers if necessary.
7. Explore the South.
Follow your steps until you return to where you found Shakura, and this time you go to the right. In the next room, you can hear a song coming from the right, but for now, ignore it and exploring even further south by hitting the lever on the ground in the center of the room.
Drop down and leave. Dive into the high shelf on the wall on the left, walk through the wall and look for a small hidden compartment where you can plunder the shard bundle. After that, take the elevator and get off at the first stop on the left and cache the debris.
Next, go all the way down the elevator and go left. You will appear at the top of those large vertical connection chambers, but this is filled with black slime that will explode powerfully on you the moment you approach. For double damage. So be careful.
Carefully descend the platform and exit via the first entrance and exit on the right.
8. Bring courage into hot coal for spool fragments.
Almost every surface of this next room is covered in hot coal, and staying in them for a while will damage you. But if you keep jumping, you’ll be fine.
Use the hanging platform to reach the top right shelf and press the lever to rearrange all the shelves. Then, if you come back along them, you can reach the top shelf on the left with a fragment of the spool. Along with what you’ve collected with Mosshome, this will permanently increase Max Silk for the rest of your playthrough.
9. Explore your chest further south.
Return to the vertical room of black slime, go down a little and hang your left as you go. You will soon see another entrance and exit leading to the left. Pass it, defeat the three enemies in this room, and finally plunder the shell chest.
Back in the vertical room, you are basically at the bottom right now. There is a locked door on the right, but that’s about it. Time to go back to the top.
10. Enter the gauntlet to find Forge Girl.
Return to the top of the vertical room and return to the exit. This time, we cross the elevator and head right. Above you there is a small section where you can open the door and read a little lore. Once ready, put the duck back in and head straight to the Gauntlet Arena.
This gauntlet is very useful for facing a series of enemies in these bell helmets and a new enemy variant that uses the bell as a shield, deflecting pogo attacks from above.
Once the gauntlet is cleared, two methods will appear: One will appear above you and the other on the right. The path to the right only leads to a door with a large padlock that cannot be opened at the moment, so head up from the gauntlet. On the left is a bench where you can rest. You also need to flick the next lever to easily access it and unlock it upwards.
Don’t go up yet. Instead, walk to the right and you’ll find the new NPC: Forge Daughter.
She and her companion (you can talk to you too) are Smith. Talk to the Forge daughter and you can access the shop of handy tools and weapons. If you have a rosary that you can afford, you can purchase a craft kit for 180 rosary beads. Craft kits increase the damage that deals with tools (such as straight pins found in Grindle cells).
11. Use the Swift step to unlock the path to the race.
Now you’ve done everything else you do in this region, this time it’s time to face the main boss of the deep dock. Head upwards via unlocked shortcuts and quickly step up to the top right shelf in the top room singing a creepy song. Press the lever to unlock the gate below and you can find the source of the song.
Get ready for a fast, tough, and super fun boss fight. This white covered character is lace, and she is just as fast and useful as the Hornet, but much more evil. The race is built to counter the pogo attacks thanks to her bias and trendy movements.
Although it may take some attempts to beat the race, I found that I would punish her thrust attack quickly and deliberately (don’t be greedy on just one strike) and wearing her without any effort. In her second phase, she begins to elicit crazy dash attacks around the center point of light. So, every time you see that light, then move far away from it.
When the race is defeated, she disappears (as you can see again), and is free to adventure to the right. Hit the lever in the next room to ring the bell of victory, unlocking the path to new benches and brand new neighborhoods, Far Fields.
