Don’t know how to start your Silkson journey in Moss Cave? Hollow Knight: Silksong starts with the Hornet in slightly difficult situations. Captivated by an unknown enemy, she was transported to foreign lands.
If you feel a bit overwhelmed during these early stages, don’t be afraid. Follow Moss Grotto’s Silksong Part 1 walkthrough. This sponge-like opening biome displays everything in this sponge’s opening biome to meet a more friendly face to take on the first boss of the game.

Head to the (dangerous) Start Secret.
If you first control the Hornet, you can quickly jump to the right wall for secret territory. Inside there is a statue that breaks due to Shell Shard, one of the main currency of Silk Songs.

That’s not all! There’s a secret room Inside Secret Room. Jump to the right and to the right to pull up the hidden shelf where the large bone marrow is asleep. You attack it quickly, run down the hole and get ready to avoid its rolling charge.

Killing a creature gives you a beast fragment. This can always be broken from stock and give you a one-time treasure trove of 140 shell shards.
2. Climb into the Moss Cave.

Now, raise the stairs from your starting position and attack the grapes and come off screen. We joined Moss Grotto, a fairly low Danger starting point where you can spend time familiarizing yourself with controls (note that Hornet’s unique move set (Hollow Knight Veterans, Hornet’s downward strike is currently only diagonal.
Go left and kill some mossy creatures and more debris. Climb as high as possible and go back to the right.

The future path is protected by two mossy creatures, but before going off-screen, double back and jump to the shelf above you when you approach. Jump over the shelf (worried about flying enemies) and attack the green berries of the vine at the top to collect the first mossberry.
Then drop down and go right off-screen.
3. Collect the first rosary beads.
When she enters the next room, Hornet takes a little time as a temporary illness temporarily falls on her. Once you pass, walk to the gap below and parkour to the shelf on the bottom left. Here you can plunder the worn rosary thread. Rosary is another major currency in Silkson, and rosary strings and necklaces are used to keep rosary beads safe until use (as unlike shell shards, loose rosary beads are killed).

Do not drop further down at this point. You will need to go back to the beginning and repeat step 1, so instead climb and head to the next room.

4. Explore every corner of the next room.

The next room has a rather skewed terrain. There is an upward path through the shelf, but at first ignore it and head straight ahead. Jump the Spike Trap to kill tactic-like enemies. Climb up to a higher shelf that can attack some shard caches.

Next, return to the main area of this room and climb onto the floating platform. Hang the left when you go and jump to the first shelf you see. Once you reach the vertical tunnel, carefully lower it to the shelf on the bottom right and attack more Shell Shards on the statue. Then drop down again until the start of the room.

Raise the platform again. You can explore to the right if necessary. The only thing that interests you in this direction is the locked metal door. It will go back and open quite a while later. For now, head towards the top left corner of the room.

5. Pogo reaches the top of the Mossberry.

Be aware of the fruits on the ceiling before you leave. The only way to reach them is to leave the flying enemy in this section and attack Berry enough to reach it. If you have already killed a creature, leave the room and go back and respawn and try again. Once you attack a Berry, you can plunder for another Mossberry.
If you find this difficult, don’t worry. For now I’ve forgotten and will come back later.
What is “Pogo-ing”?
6. Drop and find hidden breasts.

Pass the exit on the left next to where Mosbury was. When you drop it on the next screen, go down and hug the wall on your left hand. You land on a secluded shelf with some grapes with some grapes that can be hacked to reveal hidden areas.
This small hidden section has a chest on the top shelf, containing two flying enemies to kill, and 28x rosary beads. It falls further down, hangs to the right as it collapses, hangs again through the pass round and follows the step.

7. Defeating Moss’ mother.
Once you’ve returned to the top, this time jump over the drop and hack the grape grape to the left to reach the next room. Welcome to the ruined chapel – the place where the first boss meets. Once Hornet enters, she will make another funny turn. Wait for it to finish, then rest on the bench in front of you.

In Moss’ Cave there is nothing to do except climb into the next room and go out and meet Moss’ mother.

Flying Moss’ mother has two attacks. There is a sweep attack and upward charging to the ceiling, and remove some rocks to land on the ground. Watch out for the rays as they show where the rock is about to land. Moss’ mother may regularly vomit a bit of a mossy hatching to make you even more frustrating.
Once you hear the scream of that signature, jump over her diving attack by staying almost in the center of the screen. Otherwise, this early battle is about attacks. If you attack her with repeated attacks, you will kill her very quickly.
8. It reaches the surface and enters the bottom of the bone.

If Moss’ mother is defeated, walk through the aisle to the left and talk to a large rope and go upwards. At this point, Hornet’s strength causes her to fail as she finds another potential threat before her. When she wakes up, it becomes clear that it is not a threat. This is a chapel-made and the first of many NPCs you will encounter in Falroom.

Tired chapel maid dialogue for the first main quest. There is a door on the left, but for now it is locked, so if you go outside to the right instead, you will soon enter a small pilgrim settlement at the bottom of the bone. Here, talk to all NPCs (particularly trader Pebb, but don’t buy anything now) and rest on the bench to gather your strength for the next step in the walkthrough.
