When is Dawn of War 4 released? Dawn of War knows how it feels to go from a substantial height to a catastrophic low. Once King of the RTS genre, the Warhammer series was universally loved by Tabletop Wargame fans. The dawn of War 3 occurred and new MOBA mechanics were introduced. Dawn of War’s reputation has been shredded because it often happens when developers try something new.
Then it’s fair to say that new entries in the 20-year-old series are tough sellers and that anyone who takes on the challenge needs to get it right. Thankfully, that seems like the case with Dawn of War 4. So far, the upcoming games developed by King Art, the entirely new studio in the series, are set to bring the series back to its RTS gaming roots, bigger and better than ever. This is what we know DOW4 Release Date So far, and what to expect when it arrives.
Dawn of War 4 Release Date Estimate
I hope you don’t have to wait that long, but I estimate that Dawn of War 4’s release date will decrease around September 2026. This speculation is based on previous Dow and King Art launch dates and the period of publication.
The announcement of Dawn of War 4 Gamescom was a surprise to most people, but it was on the job and was secretly hinted at for a while. Not only did the remastered Dawn of War Definitive Edition be released a few days before its release, but hindsight also revealed something else.
In a blog post in March 2024, King Art announced that it had received federal funding for two new games. One of these was called the “Classic Real-Time Strategy Game” and had a less subtle working title of “Tischplatte” (aka Tabletop”. This can be assumed to be War 4, given its origins as a tabletop war game as the origin of Warhammer.
Like the previous Dawn of War games, DOW4 is for PC only and can be assumed to have no other platforms announced.
New developers and publishers
Changing developers will always bring some horror, especially in beloved series like this. That said, it was Relic, the series’ long-term developer, and decided to shake things up in the third game, leading to widespread disappointment.
Meanwhile, King Art has a proven history in the RTS genre. Their final game, Iron Harvest, met with praise, and the dedication to player feedback is evident from the highly interactive Kickstarter period for the game. Speaking to , the team will go into detail about the iron harvesting features that Dawn of War 4 brings, including stunning battle animations.
Dawn of War 4 is published by Deep Silver, whom I’ve worked on before, including Metro Exodus, Dead Island 2, and Kingdom Come 2: Derverance.
Gameplay
Perhaps one of the most exciting revelations about the upcoming Dawn of War is that there are four completely separate campaigns. This complements the announcement that there are four playable factions: Adeptus Mechanicus in the debut of Space Marines, Oaks, Necron and Dow, each with its own dedicated story campaign, and can be played in single-player or cooperatives.
Playing a preview of the game and talking to developers about this massive decision, we learned more about these four campaigns. These campaigns feature film cutscenes over 40 minutes, giving the different perspective of the battle at Chronos unfolding. “For single-player RTS campaign fans,” King Art Creative Director Janssen said in an interview. “This game offers more than any other RT.”
Of course, that doesn’t end there, as the normal multiplayer genocide continues with up to six players in 1V1, 2v2, and 3V3 multiplayer. Next is the Skirmish mode that can be played in multiplayer or single-player modes.
And perhaps most importantly, you can draw your army in any color you like, bringing the feel of the original tabletop warhammer to your PC game.

trailer
The gameplay trailer on display at Gamescom in 2025 is narrated by Cyrus of the Blood Ravens, the Space Marines’ top dog, in the absence of Gabriel Angelis. With Steve Blum’s recognisable gravel voice, what brought us here, we’re the first to introduce one of four campaign angles, and at the expense of how the Ravens are seeking revenge. We don’t know yet whether we’ll see three more trailers to round out the perspectives of all four playable factions, but we know that the Battle of Chronos will be bloody.
For an announcement trailer, the gameplay section is displayed at the end. This can only be assumed to be a deliberate effort to soften the hearts of fans who have been still hurt by the changes in DOW3, and a deliberate effort to demonstrate the series’ return to the classic RTS genre.
Right after the news of Dawn of War 4 broken, we’ll play DOW4 preview and be excited to see the classic RTS game return to its roots. If you can’t wait to see it for yourself, stay busy with Dawn of War Definitive Edition in the meantime. And check out the best Dow mods that still hold today.
