What is the best PC case? You might think of the case as a purely aesthetic choice, but making the right choice is essential to installing all your favorite PC parts and getting the desired performance. The best case also allows you to keep your gaming PC temperature low, maximize performance, stabilize your system, and increase headroom to overclock your CPU and GPU. And yes, they look good too.

Overall the best PC case is the Hyte Y70. It combines the system with a view of a stunning wraparound glass panel with great cooling performance. A more affordable yet stylish option is the NZXT H7 flow, while the MicroATX NZXT H3 flow is perfect for compact budget builds. See below for other options, such as large E-ATX and small MINI-ITX models. If you need more guidance on choosing a PC case, check out how to choose the PC case section at the bottom of this guide and browse the FAQ answering all PC case questions.

Best PC Case 2025:

1. Hyte Y70 – Overall (large dual chamber)

Hyte Y70

Overall the best PC case (dual chamber)

Hyte Y70 Specification:

Case typeDual Chamber
Motherboard SupportE-ATX, ATX, MicroATX
panel2 x glass panels, 1 x screen, 1 x metal panels
cooling3 x 120mm/2 x 140mm Side Fan Mount Room, 3 x 120mm/2 x 140mm Base Fan Mount, 3 x 120mm/2 x 140mm Rear Fan Mount (Fan not included)
I/o2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2, 1 x 40mm jack
size470 x 320 x 470mm
Strong Points

  • Amazing 4K touchscreen
  • Room load for large components
  • Excellent water cooling potential
Cons

  • Fans not included
  • It takes up a lot of space
  • Motherboards are difficult to install and access GPU

The Hyte Y70 Touch is the best PC case overall due to its impressive design, potentially water-cooled, due to its luxurious interactive 4K screen. With a 60Hz refresh rate and 1,100 x 3840 resolution, this IPS touchscreen is really flashy and can also be used as a second display in addition to a widget that outlines your PC.

Aside from the flashy screen, this is a great looking case with plenty of capacity to build a very powerful PC. So getting a standard Hyte Y70 rather than a Y70 touch is still a great choice. Importantly, thanks to the dual chamber design that allows you to easily hide all the cables, you can keep this looking amazing. In this case, the graphics card is also mounted vertically. This can be a safety upgrade for very heavy cards that both look good and require support when mounted horizontally.

However, along with a rather expensive case, one thing to note is that you don’t come with the fans. So, unless you’re planning on reusing the fans from a different setup, you’ll need to fork out new fans. It also matches all the fans and components to color, slightly unforgiving.

NZXT H6 Flow RGB

Best small dual chamber PC case

PCGamesn Score 9/10
NZXT H6 Flow RGB Specification:

Case typeDual Chamber
Motherboard SupportATX, MicroAtx, Mini-ITX
panel1 x Baked Glass, 1 x Steel Panel
cooling3 x 120mm front fan mount (includes fan), 3 x 120/2 x 140mm roof fan mount (includes fan), 1 x rear 120mm fan mount (includes fan), 2 x 140mm base fan mount (includes fan)
I/o2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
size287 x 415 x 435mm
Strong Points

  • That’s beautiful
  • Excellent built-in cooling
  • Enough space for cables
Cons

  • The roof cannot be removed
  • Big footprint
  • Short fan and RGB cable

The dual-chamber case has recently been able to hide boring power and cables in the rear chamber, bringing exciting and expensive RGB-filled components to the front. Additionally, these cases allow better airflow directly from the bottom of the case to aid in GPU cooling, allowing two glass panels on the front and sides. However, most are very large and contain NZXT H6 flow RGB.

This case is especially compact than the much wider Hyte Y70 or the higher NZXT H7 flow. It’s not that miracles can be done. This is still a larger case than the standard ATX tower, but instead of having an extra bulk on the front, the NZXT is hidden on the back, which adds an angled panel to the corner, slimming the case’s appearance as well as providing an additional fan mount area.

This means getting some of the best case airflows you’ve encountered in cases of this kind of size. Notably unlike many dual chamber cases that prioritize GPU cooling, this case also offers great CPU cooling and is still excellent GPU cooling.

In this case, it adds a clean and simple design (black or white), excellent build quality, and general build ease.

Harbor HS 420

Best Premium Case

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Harbor HS 420 Specifications:

Case typeTower
Motherboard SupportE-ATX, ATX, MicroATX, MINI-ITX
panel1 x glass, 1 x perforated roof. 1 x perforated side, 1 x perforated side
cooling3 x 120mm/140mm roof mount, 3 x 120mm/140mm top mount, 3 x 140mm base mount, 2 x 120mm/140mm rear mount
Front panel I/O1 x USB Type-C, 2 x USB Type-A, 1 x 3.5mm
size260mm x 541mm 547mm (wxdxh)
Strong Points

  • Amazing minimalist design
  • Huge single piece, dual side glass panel
  • Good cooling
Cons

  • Very big
  • Fans not included
  • expensive

If you’re looking for the ultimate large-scale traditional tower PC case with a stunning glass panel view within your case, the HS 420 is for now. With a design that includes a single piece curved glass front and side panels, as well as an internal glass panel airflow baffle, this case has a unique and impressive look.

Additionally, it supports room chunks for maximum E-ATX motherboards and fans, and can be adapted to some attractively powerful gaming PC hardware without having to struggle with messy builds or cooling power, using mounting options for water cooling radiators and AIO coolers.

The tested and reviewed version is a vertical GPU (VGPU) model that includes hardware installation to mount the graphics card in a vertical configuration. This also includes an internal glass baffle used to direct airflow from the oblique lower fan mount, which is used to allow cold air to enter the GPU fan from a right angle.

In our testing, the AMD Ryzen 8 9800x3D and RTX 5070 TI cooled very comfortably and remained rather quiet. However, this case benefits from using many fans that run at very slow speeds. Because its very open mesh-filled sides mean a sound leak easily and quietly.

Furthermore, if you gain enough fans to fill this case, you could add quite a lot to the already very high cost of this case, as there are no fans at all.

Still, despite this and a high price of $300 for a VGPU model ($230 for a regular model), this still feels like a decent value. The build quality is great, the cable management options are excellent, the cooling is great, and its styling is top notch. Please note that building an organized PC that really does justice in this case will be a weekend job, not an easy evening job.

NZXT H7 Flow RGB

Best PC Cases Under $150

PCGamesn Score 9/10
NZXT H7 Flow RGB Specification:

Case typeMid Tower
Motherboard SupportE-ATX, ATX, MicroATX
panel1 x steel, 1 x glass
cooling3 x 120mm fan
I/o2 x USB 3.0, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, Headphone Jack
size244 x 468 x 544mm
Strong Points

  • Great cable management
  • Room load for air or water cooling
  • That’s fun
Cons

  • More fans can’t improve airflow
  • If there are no fans on the base, it can be ugly.
  • Obscure fan frame lighting

The NZXT H7 Flow has been around for a while, but the updated 2024 model is more head and shoulder than the ones that came before. The most notable upgrade is the addition of a vertical PSU mount. This increases the room for liquid cooling radiators and therefore makes them more suitable for overclocking than their predecessors.

The mount also creates space for extra fans, but is somewhat limited in the area. During testing, it was 2 degrees warmer than the NZXT H6 Flow RGB, and even with the addition of additional fans on the rear, roof and base mount, it barely lowered the temperature to a degree.

Nevertheless, if the airflow fails, cable management will be successful. With glass panels, I want the setup to look nice, rather than just an unpleasant clutter of tangled wires. Not only can you store things in front of the PSU, it comes with plenty of Velcro cable anchors, and there is a generous cable loading area under the fan mount (this may be hidden).

If you’re passionate about a quiet setup, this is definitely one of the less noise models you’ve seen over the years. There’s a very slight shrill sound from the fan when running at full speed, but when running at 75% it’s essentially quiet. At 50%, this is fine for most normal operations, but it doesn’t make any sound.

Of course, RGB lighting in this case is a big selling point (what you’re paying for more). If you’re not a fan of that aesthetic, you can go to the non-RGB version of the NZXT H7 flow, but I think it’s a case with a rather stylish look. The build quality is also excellent, and you’ll notice that it’s made from premium materials as soon as you get it. If you have carefully decorated game space, this will fit in quickly.

Corsair 4000D Airflow

Best PC Cases Under $110

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Corsair 4000D Airflow Specification:

Case typeMid Tower
Motherboard SupportATX, MicroAtx, Mini-ITX
panel1 x Glass Panel, 1 x Metal Panel
cooling2 x 120mm fan
I/o1 x Type-A USB, 1 Type-C USB, 1 x 3.5mm jack
size453 x 230 x 466mm
Strong Points

  • Provides great airflow
  • Baked glass side
  • Affordable prices
Cons

  • Side panels are difficult to remove
  • There are some small spacing issues
  • I/O selection is not very good

If you’re just looking for a clean, good looking PC case with a traditional layout, there’s none of this double chambered one that requires dozens of good looking fans – the Corsair 4000D Airflow is it. While we don’t creep up under the $100 mark to make a nice, tidy number at the top of our list, it still makes a great midrange option for anyone looking for a quality, traditional case.

With a large amount of cooling options and a clean, simple interior, you can easily build a system that looks smart in this case but is not fantasy. Many fan mounts are hidden enough to be cheap and not ruin the appearance of the system using non-RGB fans. There are only two fans included, so as in most cases in this guide, there are a few more to make the most of this case, but it’s enough to get started.

Even modern graphics cards have space inside and can be mounted vertically, but this configuration limits airflow, making this not the ideal case for vertical installation.

Ultimately, this case doesn’t reinvent the wheels, but it’s a solid and reliable option for anyone looking for a standard ATX case to build a powerful gaming PC that looks smart but isn’t nonsense.

HZXT H3 Flow

The best MicroATX case

PCGamesn Score 9/10
HZXT H3 flow specifications:

Case typeTower
Motherboard SupportMATX, MINI-ITX
panel1 x glass, 1 x perforated front, 1 x perforated roof, 1 x perforated side
cooling2 x 120mm/2 x 140mm front mount, 2 x 120mm/2 x 140mm top mount, 2 x 120mm psu cover mount, 1 x 120mm rear mount (incl. fan)
I/o1 x USB Type-C, 1 x USB Type-A
size225 x 389 x 400mm (wxdxh)
Strong Points

  • Refined design
  • Good cooling from the box
  • Good price
  • ASUS BTF and MSI Project Zero Support
Cons

  • Only one fan is included as standard
  • Front panel audio port, only one type A USB port
  • Mesh panels allow sound to escape

The NZXT H3 Flow is an absolute bargain for the MATX case, and is also stylish and highly capable in terms of cooling and capacity. Despite its relatively compact size, it can still fit large graphics cards, some AIO coolers, and the CPU cooler is also sufficient.

The secret behind its success is partially in the use of more ventilation panels than is seen in many cases. The glass side panels extend only 3/4, while the lower section provides ventilation to the PC’s power and bottom, which could also benefit certain GPU cooler designs.

There are also ventilated panels on the front along with the entire top section. This means that even though the case only includes one 120mm fan (mounted on the back) it still provides excellent cooling. All of that ventilation means that the noise is leaking from this case a little more than the other cases, but this can be easily balanced by using a slower spinning/quiet fan.

As a MATX case, there are more limited choices for motherboard options – there are few surprisingly high-end MATA motherboards – and while it’s not absolute when it comes to MATX cases, if you want a case a little smaller than the ATX model, you’ll hit that mark.

For just $60, this is all going to be a great case. Although it doesn’t include some premium touches like rubber grommets around cable routing holes, this is a great case for those who want to save money on the chassis without compromising.

Strong Points

  • Great cooling
  • Both air and water cooling support
  • Elegant design
Cons

  • Limited features and accessories
  • No USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support
  • Poor cable accumulation

The Jonsbo D30 is the best MATX PC case recommendation, especially if you’re chasing small cases. It offers a very compact design and includes 3 120mm fans, making it a great starting point for a very small MATX PC that doesn’t need to buy additional fans. They also have the best mounting options for both air and water cooling, all at a decent price.

The secret to this case’s design is most often to move the power source from the bottom at the top of the case. This means that if the case is on the desk and you’re looking down at the main window, it’s the graphics card that’s highlighted at the bottom, not the bulky power or power shroud.

Additionally, this arrangement means getting clean airflow to the graphics card from the ventilation grille running the full length of the bottom of the case. This is perfect for flow GPU designs.

The downside of this case is that the power supply position is a bit troubling and can be unsightly if there is no covering it on the front of the case. Jonsbo has a 2.5 inch SSD installed in front of this section, but there are plenty of photos of cases showing who is using it these days! ? Instead, we recommend filling this space with images or colored panels.

Due to the vertical airflow design, this is also the perfect case for use with 240mm AIO CPU coolers rather than air coolers. Despite these warnings, I really love the combination of style, cooling performance and price this case offers.

Fractal Design Terra

The best mini ITX case

Fractal Design Terra Specifications:

Case typemini-itx
Motherboard Supportmini-itx
panel3 x Aluminum Mesh Panel
cooling1 x 120mm fan mount
I/o1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C, 1 x USB 3
size343 x 153 x 218mm
Strong Points

  • Stylish design
  • Its size of cool cooling
  • Versatile layout
Cons

  • There is no ATX PSU support
  • Tricky cable management
  • There is no front audio port

The fractal design Terra is the perfect combination of compact, style and performance. This Mini-ITX case is a stunning design, especially in the combination of the now-iconic Jade Green and Walnut Color. However, the skin is not the only appeal of this case.

This clever case simply ventilates the panels on the top, bottom and sides, essentially eliminating the need for ventilation. The air is pulled in from the side by an SFX power supply, a CPU cooler and a graphics card fan, and simply passes through the top and bottom.

Building inside this case is essentially a must-have as it is very compact, but Fractal eased things by allowing the entire vertical motherboard mount to move left and right.

An important limitation in this case is the requirements for SFX power supplies rather than ATX. You should also use a modest CPU cooler, such as the Noctua NH-L9. Also, since you cannot install windows, you cannot have a flashy interior that you can see. It’s also very expensive, but this is reflected in the quality of its stunning build – it’s solid wood on the front and it’s a great performance.

Fractal Design Torrent

Perfect case for box cooling

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Fractal Design Torrent Specifications:

Case typeMid Tower
Motherboard SupportE-ATX, ATX, MicroATX
panelClosed panel
cooling3 x 120/140, 2 x 180mm front fan mount (1x 180mm fan included), 1 x 120/140mm rear fan mount (fan not included), 3 x 120/140mm, 2 x 180mm base fan mount (3x 140mm fan included)
I/o1 x USB-3, 1 x USB 3.2 Type-C, stereo, microphone
size242 x 544 x 530mm
Strong Points

  • Physically attractive
  • Great airflow
  • A big but quiet fan
Cons

  • It’s hard to find
  • There are no RGB lighting hubs
  • More storage space is needed

Fractal Design Torrent has three truly fascinating features: The first is a sophisticated design. That may not be anyone’s preference, but I think the angular lines of the front ventilation grille and rounded corner angles make this case stand out from the crowd in all the right ways.

The second major feature is the upside down layout. Like many dual chamber cases, this case has a bottom for ventilation-only cases, with a motherboard mounted underneath, bringing the graphics card closer to its ventilation. Unlike the dual-chamber case, however, the power source is placed on the top where it remains surprisingly well hidden, rather than moving it under the motherboard tray.

The final big feature of this obviously large case is the inclusion of two large 180mm fans on the front panel. Due to the size, these spin slower than the 120mm fan, provide more airflow and bring out the box a very impressive cool setup.

It’s not the best for water cooling, but for a standard air cooler or CPU AIO cooler with a standard graphics card, it’s a great case.

Check out the Fractal Design Torrent Review.

How to Choose the Best PC Case

Not all PC cases are created equally. Often, the look that suits your needs is not the most appropriate. Here are some things to consider to ensure you get a good PC case that is suitable for your component selection:

First, you need to make sure your PC components actually fit in the case, such as the best graphics card or the best gaming CPU selection. The main place to start is the size of your chosen motherboard. These come in four main sizes: Mini-ITX, Micro ATX (MATX), ATX, and E-ATX. The MINI-ITX is the smallest, only 170 x 170mm, and the E-ATX is the same size as 305 x 330mm.

PC cases are suitable motherboard sizes, from Mini-ITX to E-ATX, so you can quickly find out at least the range of cases you can choose from. However, you will need to look at some other measurements as well to fine-tune your selection.

Once you have selected the motherboard, you will then need to see how other parts of the build (or potential parts) affect your PC case selection, or vice versa. Factors to check include the maximum length of the graphics card the case can fit, whether the case uses a full-size ATX power supply or small SFX unit, the maximum height of the CPU cooler, and whether the case requires a modest or a specific type of cooler, such as an AIO cooler.

The next thing to consider is style. Yes, this is actually quite expensive as the appearance and shape of the case can determine many other aspects of a PC build. If you choose a small Mini-ITX system, you can choose between very tall but small cases such as Fractal Mud or Hyte Revolt, or more traditional style cases such as the Cooler Master NR200. On the other hand, there are many different types of large cases. There are standard towers, wider aquarium style cases with multiple glass panels, and many other options. The style you want means choosing different components.

See also  Thief and Deus Ex are two of the best games of all time, and now the creators are back

Next, there is the possibility of cooling the case. There is plenty of space for a ton of fans, making it easy to maintain a cool, quiet PC. However, the smaller A, the more you have to think about how to get enough cooling for the selected component. In some small cases, you may need an AIO CPU cooler, or you may find yourself having trouble cooling your high-end graphics card if you have lots of glass panels and fewer panels drilled holes for airflow.

Another important factor is the number of fans shipped in the case and how many spaces there are for other fans and radiators. Most high-end cases don’t actually include fans, so fill out these with the choice of best PC fan customers. However, it is generally included in cheaper cases, and assuming fans are of decent quality, it could be a great way to save money if they do. However, inexpensive cases can often be smaller and more cramped, with little room for adding the fans or larger radiators used by AIO CPU coolers.

If you want to build a neat PC, you need plenty of space to store and hide cables. Look for rubber grommet cable routing holes via motherboard trays and covers in the PSU area (usually located at the bottom of the tower case case or behind the motherboard in a dual chamber case). Also, some of the latest cases have room for routing cables directly to the back of the motherboard, if supported by the hardware. If you need a case to support this, look for compatibility between ASUS BTF and MSI Project Zero.

PC Case Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which size PC case is best?

If you’re looking for peak performance, getting the largest possible case is the easiest way to ensure there’s plenty of room for all the components and lots of cooling. For most gamers, however, the standard ATX case is large enough to fit the very largest graphics card, large coolers, and many fans.

However, if desk space is a concern, or if you want the stylish look of a small PC case, then you can consider a Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX case. The former is generally very similar in design to the ATX, but is slightly smaller. However, Mini-ITX cases can be offered in much smaller and all sorts of crushed or elongated designs. These can look amazing, but they can be strictly limited in component selection and cooling options. It all depends on your priorities.

What is PC Cable Management?

Regarding cable management cases, the case can easily route cables from one component to another. The smaller the case, the less easy it is to hide all the cables, and even many large but cheap cases skip that there are good options for cable routing.

The larger, higher quality case provides ample space for the cable, along with plenty of holes inside the case for routing the cable. Also, look for points to tie the cable, especially on the back of the case under the motherboard tray. This not only makes things look neat, but also helps prevent cable mess from stopping the back panel of your case from closing.

There is also a standard case and motherboard, and you need to connect the cable to the back of the motherboard and route the cable to the top of the motherboard and the top of the motherboard. However, these are not yet universal standards, and Asus and MSI have competitive versions of the idea.

Is PC case airflow important?

Yes, absolutely. Especially if you plan to push your gaming PC to a limit. While you can achieve a lot with a high quality CPU cooler and graphics card, it is always better to ensure cooling and system stability with cases where there are room to breathe and there are many fans that keep airing through the case.

Which PC Cases have the best airflow?

The really best case for airflow is an outdoor case like a PC Creative Frame Test Bench, but in a normal enclosed case there are plenty of things that claim to get a crown. These include the Corsair 9000D Airflow, the Phanteks Enthoo Pro II, and the NZXT H9 flow. However, these are all huge and expensive options. Of the cases tested and recommended in this guide, the NZXT H7 Flow and the Corsair 4000D Airflow are the biggest choices.

The main factor that determines the best case with regard to airflow (and the resulting cooling) is that they are generally large, have plenty of fan mounts, and at least some of the outer panels are mesh rather than glass or plain metal. Both the 9000D and H9 above are available in mesh panels with glass panels instead or in high airflow variants with more style-oriented options.

Is a black or white PC case good?

There’s no difference. One is black and one is white. You might prefer one or the other look…

Okay, so there’s one factor that makes a difference beyond just style preferences, and it’s lighting. The black case darkens the exterior of the lighting inside. However, the white case amplifies the lighting, reflects the light from the RGB fan and reflects the LED light strip to create a stunning display. Because of this, white cases can be relentless, but you should keep the cables tidy and make sure all components match as much as possible.

Head to the PC build list and see some examples of differences. Examples such as this white and purple PC and this triangular white PC highlight the aesthetics of a clean white gaming PC. Meanwhile, this Sonic The Hedgehog Build and Lamborghini Gaming PC show the power of a dark look.

Which PC case brand is the best?

We have a long list of PC case brands that we generally recommend and we trust to provide solid build quality. These include the Quiet and Cooler Master, Corsair, Fractal, Hi-Te, Lean LI, NZXT, Fantex and Silverstone. Meanwhile, brands like Antec, Deepcool, Sharkoon and Thermaltake all offer many quality cases.

One reason to consider a particular brand is that existing gear fits the branding and appearance of a particular case. For example, Corsair has a very popular ICUE software and a huge range of peripherals, so matching cases may make sense.

However, in general, it is best to think about individual cases rather than one brand, as even top brands can produce cheap or bad products. If you have the look and functionality you want with the key specs you need for your case, make sure it’s sold through a reliable retailer (at least because you know it’s safe), and look for reviews from experts like us, or users like stores and Reddit to see if there’s a reason to avoid that model.
