EA has properly watched Battlefield 6 multiplayer after revealing the game in a single-player trailer last week. They also confirmed the release dates for the new shooter game on October 10th, 2025, and announced the dates for the series of beta weekends for August.
The game they are pitching is the return to modern wars of Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 after a gentle futuristic disappointment of Battlefield 2042. There are four familiar classes, the Trinity of the old battlefield modes of Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, and a map sloping towards nearby settlements. It seems it’s okay. And loudly.

You’ve already heard of the resurrected class thanks to Battlefield Lab Breaking News, but give it a proper intro. Attack is your Kamikaze Jarhead, and you can equip your extra major weapons and arm them with adrenaline shots for their final groove attacks. RPG packing engineers are excellent at fragmenting and fixing vehicles. MG-Toting Support can heal, revive and deploy covers. Finally, reconnaissance is about sniping, finding enemies with four-headed drones, mining obstacles with heavy armor and C4, and safely leading them to the house with laser pointers.
The handling looks familiar – slower than Call of Duty and Halo, but subtle enough to maintain a kill streak that is mixed with familiar, novel movements. You can drag it down next to the collar while reviving it. I think this is pretty sweet – to keep your dog away from the barbecue. You can peer in by placing a gun on the wall for stability. To maintain your momentum, roll on land after a big jump and a spectral homage to the edge of the mirror. You can also ride a tank so you can hope for less tantrums when all six players compete for the same gunner seat.
The game will release nine maps, including the shiny repairs of Operation Firestorm from Battlefield 3. Although Egypt’s maps are built for infantry and land vehicles, Gibraltar appears to be rather claustrophobic. Tajikistan is about the big scenery and the air force, and Brooklyn is designed to cater to any style. The map consists of various combat zones built with different modes in mind.
As for these modes, they are conquest, breakthrough, rush, team deathmatch, team deathmatch, domination, hill king, and escalation. The latter sounded very much like the Battle Royale mode of Battlefield 6 rumors, pushing the party on the other side into a tough final encounter, but EA danced over the details of the presentation.
Needless to say, you can drill holes and destroy many architectures. While it is difficult to identify the granularity of destructive physics from a montage of visceral apartment blocks in exposed videos, individual playable scenarios include destroying the floor with a sledgehammer to ambush the camper below, or removing the above sniper on the ceiling. Game developers – I think that’s the dice, standards, motivations, ripple effects, and I think it’s playing a lot of Rainbow Six: Siege.
Finally, there is probably a new version of Battlefield 2042 portal editor in the middle. This allows you to tinker with the map in luxury and apply special rules such as one-shot kills. Options include supporting the highway towards the skyscrapers and sliding a bundle of tanks like the roars of metal children made from bombs.
It is worth noting that, like Battlefield multiplayer trailers, and generally FPS multiplayer trailers, the average match doesn’t look like the Barreck Blood Shed and the nasty demolition combo on display here. In my experience, the average match mixes that die quickly when spawning, and while hiding forever in the basement, enemy artillery tries to dig holes like giants with ladles. Commanding the tank immediately beneath the bridge, it is spoken vigorously as the leader of the squad goes on a lovely walk across the map boundaries. Ah, and there will definitely be some bugs.
Those betas? The first one starts on August 7th and 8th and can be accessed by watching hundreds of selected streamers as part of today’s multiplayer showcase. There will then be a general access beta version from August 9th to 10th and August 14th-17th.
Conclusion Verdict: That’s fine. It should work by channeling BF3/BF4 energy. Whether it’s enough to win 100 million players is another matter. Smaller complaints: I made it very EA to release a little percussion on their battlefield video. We understand that bangs and booms are important liquids on the battlefield, but with too many bangs and booms, the game almost looks constipated, as if you’re trying to find one bang or boom that will eventually crush your viewer’s bookings.
