2024 was the year of major releases, but we cannot deny the impact of Black Myth: Wukon. Developed by Game Science, it was a huge success in August for the PS5 and PC, achieving over 20 million sales within the first month. It has been fairly well received, and at Steam, it currently has an overwhelmingly positive rating based on nearly 850,000 user reviews at this time. Of course, it’s not surprising that it’s also one of the biggest releases in Steam history.
With that in mind, the Xbox Series X/S version, which was delayed for more Poland, has always been a mystery. Thankfully, it finally launched on August 20th for the platform, allowing Xbox players to experience the mythological journey firsthand. Here’s everything you need to know Black Myth: Wucon, Include post-release improvements before playing.
Gameplay loop

At the center of it, Woocon An action RPG in which players explore different regions and fight different enemies (and bosses). Combat places importance on dodging attacks, slamming staff and pointless enemies until defeated, but many other techniques can be defeated. It has some soul-like mechanics, but the overall gameplay is similar to an action-adventure title that focuses on characters.
search
The story takes place throughout multiple chapters, each set in a different, fantastical realm. Your journey begins at Black Wind Mountain. This is pretty linear as you learn ropes, but exploration opens quickly with various paths, optional battles, NPC encounters, and even side quests to pursue. It’s not an open world by any means, but depending on the completed side content, the story could go a different path.
Hidden realm
Without digging into spoilers, Woocon It offers several hidden areas to discover through the runtime, each with its own unique challenges. You’ll need to explore a bit to find them and perhaps get better equipment or level up more to survive, but otherwise they can lead to some interesting discoveries.
stance
Wukong relies only on one weapon throughout the game, but there are three available stances each specialized for different techniques. The first smash is a shorter distance. The second pillar stance is more defensive and provides extended range. And the final thrust stance offers even more range. Apart from the various combos, each stance is also defined by a heavy attack. For example, the heavy Pillar Stance allows you to climb to the staff. This is great for avoiding attacks and making powerful attacks on release. In comparison, Smash Stance allows you to charge heavy attacks while moving. Each stance has its own skill tree, which can further improve the technique. It also unlocks counterattack options depending on the stance that is equipped.
concentration
Focus can significantly change heavy attacks and can turn them into something much more powerful. This is obtained by landing a light attack normally. Once well accumulated, you can heavily heavily smash stances, climbing up to the top of your staff with a pillar stance and gaining more range with heavy attacks with thrust stances. As you progress, options will become available to increase your maximum focus.
incantation
Of course, there are also magic divided into four categories: mysticism, change, chains, and transformation. Mysticism consists of spells like immobilization to temporarily freeze enemies on the spot. The changes include rock solids that turmeric can turn into rocks to parry the hit. Also, using strands allows you to create clones that attack enemies.
conversion
Transformation is a completely different beast, in one or more ways. Obtained from defeating a particular boss, they allow Woocon Convert them to a limited time (determined by availability). Various upgrades allow you to reduce the level of attack increase, maximum power, and even collapse, which will remain converted for longer.
Spirit Skills
Unlike conversion, there is a spirit skill, which takes QI and can be improved individually using different materials and currencies. Rather than lasting for a while like other transformations, they are blowers, offering a wide range of attacks and passive benefits. Along with transformation, it provides a pathway to use a variety of weapons outside of staff.
Armor set and weapons
True action RPG fashion, Woocon It offers a variety of armor sets and weapons throughout the game, with a variety of rarities and passives. Most of them are crafts and include benefits such as an improved light attack combo finisher, increased damage for certain stance movements, and the use of healing gourds while sprinting. It is alongside improved offense and defense at higher rarity.
Boss’ Battle
Of course, the biggest attraction of the game is the boss battles (which leads to many considering it). Woocon (as a “Boss Rush” style game). There are dozens of bosses to fight, but a few options, but many are necessary to advance the story. Again, there are no spoilers, but their overall presentation, unique moves, and the strategies they need to defeat them are worth the admission fee alone.
Rival’s Return
The title, which focuses on boss battles, should have a way to rematch against many threats, and thankfully Game Science has acquiesced. Post-release updates included in the Xbox Series X/S version at release will add a rival Return and fight Banks Boss again. They will only be available when defeating them throughout your journey, and you can choose one of three difficulty levels during the rematch.
Legendary Gauntlet
Legend’s gauntlets, on the other hand, are in a more traditional boss lash style mode. It is divided into multiple gauntlets with different bosses, and you will get items, ingredients and even better rewards when you clear each. You can also use curses to add to the challenges, such as defeating the boss, increasing the poor cost and not replenishing the gourd fee.
Journeyer’s Chart
when Woocon One of the popular criticisms released was the lack of a world map, which led to many back and forth when navigating the environment. Journeyer’s Chart deals with this after launch charts. You can buy new ones in each region and provide an overview of the region, and they are also very helpful in tracking your entire position.
60 FPS+ for Xbox Series X/s
That’s not a secret Black Myth: Wukon Due to Series S optimization issues, it was delayed for the Xbox Series X/s (and, if rumors are believed, the reason for timing exclusivity). Game Science addressed this in its official FAQ, stating that the process is “not an easy feat.” “Fortunately, within the first year of the game’s official release, this challenging task was completed smoothly.” No information on resolution or frame rates is provided, but the Xbox Store listing checks for 60 fps.
Playtime
Even if you’re jumping in for the first time, whether you’re revisiting the epic or not, Woocon It’s a very substantial experience. According to howlongtobeat.com, it takes about 38-39 hours to clear the story on average. For completed users, everything can take approximately 67 hours. This does not include the time required to clear boss rematches and boss lash mode. Of course, you can also embark on a playthrough in addition to the new game, dealing with more challenging enemies, taking over levels, gear, and spells, as well as unleash new abilities.
