Ready or Not (PS5) Review – End of Watch

bAck was on the day when flight simulators were common and Bioware was considered uncontrollable (and therefore I know it was a long time ago), the tactical shooter genre consisted of two heavy hitters. Rainbow Six and swat. Both titles focused on the realism of tweets. The shooter has a twist that some bullets could be your end. Careful planning and careful planning were also common; swat It resonated more with me. Instead of becoming a Gung-Ho, they have hostages and suspects, clean up city corridors one by one, and use them as carefully as guns. It was challenging, but seductive.

But Rainbow Six See more sequels and will eventually cross over into the realm of competitive shooters Siege, swat Essentially, he died in some awful spinoffs that were unable to get close to the original. That’s probably why Are you ready?Void Interactive’s team-based tactical shooter is very appealing to me. It was launched for PC in December 2023 and eventually brought the Brutal Urban Warfare brand to the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. This is a seamless transition, and while many of the bugs and underlying issues remain, this is some of the most appealing first-person shooter action.

“I strangely ordered my team to break through the door during training, but there were few issues in the actual mission. These commands map to R1 on the PS5 while the equipment is in L1, but there are also context sensitive commands that can mitigate much of the micromanagement.”

The mission is as far as it unfolds in Los Snos, California based on Los Angeles, capturing the lighting of the city in the distance. There are several modes to choose from, but Commander is a core single player campaign. As judge David Beaumont, he leads LSPD tactical force D Platoon into a miserable mission throughout the city. Storytelling is rather indirect, much of which is relegated to the wall of text on the tablet on the chest. It really didn’t grab me, but sooner or later some different threads appear between certain missions, not a very good side of the city under bright light.

Even during the first mission, even in the situation of armed robbers and hostages at gas stations. Are you ready? It is fully visible. Desperate 911 is calling out by his mother about the attackers. A dead veteran and his dog. A child hiding somewhere from all the violence.

It gets even more miserable from there as it goes deeper into Los Sunos’ abdomen. Attention to detail in these environments – rundown apartments filled with tools of doodles, junk and assortment. The windowed house I boarded is connected by chance (and that’s before we reach a roughly dug tunnel) – especially eye-opening in the middle of the night. However, there are many offensive subjects as well.

As the commander of d platoon, your job is to “bring order into chaos.” How you approach these objects depends on the relevant lethal dose, but you need to ensure the survival of all civilians so that mission scores do not plummet to zero. Some levels have different entry points, and in single-player, you order members to open doors, clean areas, and hold down suspects.

I strangely and mysteriously ordered my team to break through the door during training, but there was little problem with the actual mission. These commands are mapped to R1 on the PS5 while the device is on the L1. However, there are also context sensitive commands that can mitigate much of micromanagement. A bit of touch, such as lowering the weapon to increase the speed of movement, was good, but I’m not entirely sure what benefits Canted -Sights offers.

“When it comes to firearms, there are very broad weapons consisting of assault rifles, SMGs, shotguns and handguns. The weapons have an assortment of attachments, but it doesn’t seem to make too many performance differences (aside from the need to switch between your preferred range and flashlights).”

It is recommended to order compliance between targets, but sometimes, as soon as they meet you, they will start firing and kill the civilian caught in the middle. Things become even more tricky when an adversary can take civilians hostage and kill them completely if they get too close (I swear, even if it’s a coincidence). In one miserable mission, the target began to blow the door after he recognized our presence. Naturally, you can shoot back, but that may mean inadvertently hitting a hostage.

Identifying your target is also paramount. You never know who will be able to surrender with a knife or run to you right away (even if you defeat your antagonist, it can still be a threat). Civilians can even pull out their phones, but this can be mistaken for a weapon, so it’s also important to practice trigger discipline. When combined with random enemy (and trap) placement, each mission will provide the appropriate replay value. The first operation feels a bit easier, but subsequent missions require the settlement of multiple floors, the infringement and settlement of several rooms, and the enemy itself becomes much more dangerous.

The controls are very intuitive in this respect, and having the option to free-lean lean is great (it was somewhat frightening to learn that you need to do this to deal with an adversary who might hide under the bed). Perhaps the only drawback is that many objectives unfold similarly – being ordered to restrain suspects and confront antagonists, resulting in some repetition.

When it comes to firearms, there is a very extensive arsenal consisting of assault rifles, SMGs, shotguns and handguns. The weapons have an assortment of attachments, but it didn’t seem to have much performance differences (whether or not you need to switch between your preferred range and flashlight). Equipped with a suppressor, it always felt like the right play, and there was no evidence of the opposite. Nevertheless, the weapons are generally different from each other, backed by a good sound design.

Are you ready or not covering?

“You can engage in quick play, work on each mission individually without managing your team, or try to complete a campaign with Iron Man mode enabled.

In addition to determining weapons and armor, you will need to assign equipment. Sometimes flash anti-flash goggles are required during infiltrating areas, but handling lysine gas may also be equipped with a gas mask. If you need NVDs even in nighttime levels and dark dunk corridors and you really need the best score, a non-lethal ammunition like a beanbag is ideal. Don’t aim for your head.

If all this wasn’t enough, unlike the darkest dungeons, you’ll need to manage your team’s stress levels in Commander mode. They will not go mad and start stealing or killing the team, but high stress means they will eventually resign from the team. Given your experience, it’s best to unlock traits that could benefit the entire team, and to keep everyone mentally stable. Of course, you’ll want to take other squads and cycle just to give others a rest (and not one or two guys when it matters most).

Overall, Commander mode is quite fun, even on standard difficulty, and offers plenty of room to make mistakes. My only real grievance is the degree of awkwardness when trying to order compliance or try to get the suspect to look back on. Some clipping issues also occur occasionally, and although my AI teammates are generally reliable, they will sometimes block my path. At least they’re not shooting me backwards.

You could engage in quick play, work on each mission individually without managing your team, or try to complete the campaign with Iron Man mode enabled, but perhaps it’s where the co-op is. Some of the five real players strolling around the station grabbed a coffee (which serves a buff) before sprinting through hostile tactical situations.

Are you ready? 2

“Are you ready? Not all fans of first person shooter games experience. It absorbs damage and does not tear or tear through a horde of criminals while rotating the shield saw. ”

Like chaos, pacing is much faster. Opening the doors just to see the suspects spray on my squad (and then firing them) is just one such hilarious moment. Killing your team with friendly fire and triggered traps can be unfortunate. This is the nature of such a game, but otherwise, even with high ping, I would not have faced any problems.

Are you ready? Not all fans of first person shooter games experience. It absorbs damage and does not rip or tear off a horde of criminals while rotating the shield saw. But it’s a very good homage to a bygone franchise, and perhaps the most powerful show ever from a SWAT-inspired game.

This game was reviewed on PlayStation 5.
