find Best Borderlands 4 Settings For PC, the game lies in a continuous battle with performance issues on all platforms. Even if you have the best graphics card from the purchase guide installed on your gaming PC, you may be struggling to achieve a stable frame rate.

The system requirements for Borderlands 4 are not unreasonably high, but players with gaming PCs of all levels have a hard time getting good performance in Gearbox’s latest Looter shooter game. This showed that during the first Borderlands 4 test, the rig performance was slow and that with medium graphics presets and DLSS upscaling, I was unable to hit an average of 60fps at 1080p or 1440p at 45fps 1% low. However, there is a new Borderlands 4 update being rolled out, and while it doesn’t bring any magical fixes for performance, there are some small improvements that are steps in the right direction.

borderlands 4 frame rate data is 4k with a balanced medium graphics presets and DLSS.

Using the above settings on the RTX 4070 test rig (full specs under the test section), we can see that in the graph above we have an average frame rate of 134FP, with 1% of 51fps at 1,920 x 1,080 being 51fps. At 2,560 x 1,440, this dropped to an average frame rate of 126fps at a 1% low of 50fps. In 4K, the average frame rate was 85fps, but the 1% low was 33fps.

Since the first test, we have found a fair improvement in 1% lows at all resolutions. It’s also become a viable tool to increase the average frame rate if you’re playing at 1080p or 1440p on a similar rig as us.

I retested the 1080p and 1440p resolutions several times, with or without frame generation. Each time, 1% Low released very similar numbers. So, removing the resolution and enabling frame GEN could improve the average, but you’ll face the same kind of drops in the game’s highly demanding areas.

Elsewhere, there have been no significant performance improvements since the first test. There are still instances of stud and slowing, along with flashing lights and frequent texture pop-ins. However, due to improved stability, the 1% lower value is higher, and the rushed release patch moves in the right direction.

Borderlands 4 Graphics Preset

There are currently five graphics presets available in Borderlands 4.

  • low
  • Medium
  • expensive
  • Very expensive
  • Badass

Strangely enough, Badass Preset does not switch between all graphical options to the best. That means there’s a range of requests for more from Borderlands 4 if you think your gaming PC can handle it.

Every time you switch presets, the game world effectively reloads all assets and textures. In other words, we had to gradually look at the burden of the world.

Once this process is complete, there is no major drastic difference between low and bad bass presets that are easily captured via still images. This relies heavily on the art style that Borderlands are known for.

Borderlands 4 Accessibility Settings

Borderlands 4 has a detailed accessibility menu that covers the basics, including subtitles, various color/background options, color branding, and input toggles.

Some of these settings are presented after the first boot of the game, but otherwise you can find them in a dedicated menu. All options can be changed during live gameplay. This means you don’t need to reload your save to see the changes.

How to Test Borderlands 4

uses a dedicated gaming rig to test the best settings for performance and gameplay with the latest release. The test rig used to play Borderlands 4 includes the following components: IntelCoreI7-11700F, Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070, 32GB DDR4 3,200MHz RAM, and MSI B560 motherboard. Also test using Windows 11 64bit.

First run the test at 1,920 x 1,080 to identify the best setting for this entry-level resolution, then again at 2,560 x 1,440 to measure performance differences using the same setup. Finally, we’ll also test it out on 4K. CapFramex is used to capture frame data and compare test sessions.

Do Borderlands 4 need an SSD?

Borderlands 4 requires an SSD as specified in the system requirements. The download file is currently 100GB, so if you are working on only a single drive, you should make sure you have enough space.

How to monitor performance in Borderlands 4 4

If you want to focus on Borderlands 4 performance, whether you’re using an NVIDIA card or an AMD graphics card, there’s a simple way to do it.

For NVIDIA cards, install the NVIDIA app and make sure you have enabled in-game overlays, then press ALT + R to view the performance monitor in-game. With an AMD card, you can enable performance monitoring via the Radeon overlay using the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+O.

Alternatively, you can download free software like CapFramex or Nvidia Frameview to get a cleaner, more simplified benchmarking tool that works with any graphics card.

With a handheld gaming PC, there is a dedicated button for accessing a quick menu that can be accessed by performance monitoring, known as real-time monitoring.

It explains how Borderlands 4 and how it runs on your system with Community Discord Server. This server allows you to chat with team members and fellow leaders.
