Best Computer Speakers 2025:

Editor R1280db

The best computer speakers

edifier R1280DB specification:

force42W
Frequency response55Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel2.0
connectionAnalog stereo, digital optics, Bluetooth
Strong Points

  • Smart design
  • Smooth and full sound
  • It’s packed with features
  • Great value
Cons

  • Very large unit
  • There’s a bit of detail on the top end
  • Tether power cable

With great sound quality, classic design and low cost, the editor R1280DB (and Bluetooth-Less cousin R1280T) is the best value for the overall 2.0 speaker set you can buy today. They aren’t packed with extras in the game, but no matter what you throw at them, they just provide a great sound for the price.

They are on a bigger side, each speaker is 146 x 196 x 234mm, but using that size it gives it a full effect with a powerful, wide range of sounds. If you really want a huge base rumble, you’ll need a 2.1 speaker set with a subwoofer, but on most practical desktops, these deliver the product.

With Optical Digital, Analog and Bluetooth inputs, and a handy remote control, you’re short on USB input, but it’s versatile and convenient, so your system already needs some kind of sound output. However, the motherboard includes a basic audio interface that connects to these.

Razer Nommo V2 Pro

Best gaming speakers

PCGamesn Score 7/10
Razer Nommo V2 Pro Specification:

force300W
Frequency response40Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel2.1 Stereo
connectionBluetooth, USB
Strong Points

  • Powerful sound and big bass
  • Convenient remote control
  • Convenient wireless sub
Cons

  • RGB is a bit pointless
  • Very expensive

The Razer Nommo V2 Pro is an excellent 2.1 speaker set for gaming focused people. The smart looking set combines compact desktop speakers with a substantial subwoofer for wide, powerful sounds, packed with extras such as Bluetooth that create a convenient speaker system.

The back of the two desktop speakers features RGB lighting that can be synchronized with other Razer RGB gear using Chroma software, and the system has a simple wireless setup for the sub (requires a power connection) and a simple USB connection for the main speaker. You also get a remote control for even more convenience in controlling the speaker.

While the sound has ample power and detail, the secret source of this speaker set is that with Razer’s software you can not only change the EQ and sub levels of the speaker, but also set an app profile that is set so that the speaker changes automatically between EQ settings each time you launch a particular app or game. So, if you need a loud bass for music or single-player games, but want more detailed sounds for example in a multiplayer game, it’s just a switch for you.

This is an expensive set and you need to download the Razer app to make the most of them – especially since the default sounds are terrible, you need to switch the app from the game audio profile to the natural flat sound default profile, but I actually like playing games with speaker audio.

Creative T100

Best Computer Speakers Under $100

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Creative T100 Specifications:

force40W
Frequency range76Hz -21kHz
Audio Channel2.0
connection3.5mm analog jack, optical digital, USB MP3 player
Strong Points

  • Sturdy sound quality
  • Smooth design
  • Convenient remote
  • Analog and digital inputs
Cons

  • A little boxy sound
  • Shiny plastic exterior
  • There is no USB PC connection

With a simple and stylish look, a set of useful features including remote control, and solid sound quality, the Creative T100 is a great speaker choice for anyone looking for a compact, decent quality 2.0 set for under $100. There is no detail and power for a larger unit like the Edifier R1280DB, but it packs punches for its size.

The main drawback of the Creative T100 is that there is no USB input to connect these directly to the computer. They have a USB port, but that’s because they plug into a USB stick and play MP3 files, an oddly old school feature. Instead, it relies on optical digital or 3,5mm jack analog inputs, along with Bluetooth.

Creative Pebble V3

Best budget computer speakers

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Creative Pebble V3 Specification:

force16W
Frequency response100Hz -17kHz
Audio Channel2.0 Stereo
connectionaux, bluetooth 5.0, usb
Strong Points

  • Simple and compact design
  • Sound suitable for size
  • Very cheap
  • A set of really useful features
Cons

  • There are no subwoofers
  • No headphone output
  • Sound can be a lot of confusing

If you’re looking for a cheap set of PC speakers that will greatly improve over built-in monitor speakers, the creative Pebble V3 is the perfect choice. Despite being very cheap, they actually offer a very pleasant audio with better stereo image and more power than you would expect.

Thanks to using USB to connect to your PC and powering it, the Creative T100 is extremely useful, even if the USB Connectoin limits its peak power to just 16W. However, it is still much stronger as it rivals the power rating of a typical monitor speaker at just 2x5W.

Don’t expect inhale audio. But for the cheap options, the Creative’s Pebble V3 offers excellent quality in its size. It can also be streamed via Bluetooth 5.0 from another device, such as a smartphone.

Audio Engine A5+ Wireless

Best high-end computer speakers

AudioEngine A5+ Wireless Specification:

force150W
Frequency response50Hz -22kHz
Audio Channel2.0 Stereo
connectionAUX, Bluetooth 5.0, RCA
Strong Points

  • Great audio performance
  • Wired or wireless connection
  • Lots of power
Cons

  • Big footprint
  • No digital input
  • expensive

These are the best sounding 2.0 computer speakers on this list, with high quality built-in DACs and generally top-tier build quality. It also includes Bluetooth to connect wirelessly and include remote control, so it doesn’t lack functionality.

You can choose from white, black, bamboo or walnut finishing effects, but they all look great. However, please note that these are very large speakers and dimensions are 7 x 10.75 x 9 inches (18 x 27 x 23cm). Premium sound is also reflected in premium prices, but it’s worth paying if you want to step up to true audio quality that rivals a proper Hi-Fi.

Editor S350db

Best 2.1 Computer Speakers

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Edifier S350DB Specification:

force150W RMS
Frequency range40Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel2.1
connection2 x Analog Twin Fono, Optical and Coax Digital, Bluetooth
Strong Points

  • Class-leading sound quality
  • Elegant design
  • Giant bass presence if necessary
  • Versatile connection options
Cons

  • The subwoofer is big
  • The satellite speaker is very large
  • There is no direct USB connection to the computer

The Edifier S350DB is a large and powerful set of 2.1 speakers that delivers truly enormous levels of sound with 150W RMS audio output. With its power, this set allows you to turn your hands on everything you want it to, and can easily cum on your home cinema setup or use it at a house party.

However, this set offers one of the important things that so many 2.1 speaker systems lack, so it’s not just about power and a large base presence. This is the presence of a good midrange with a smooth transition of sound from the satellite speaker to the subwoofer. So it not only explodes EDM and hip hop beats, or provides a soundtrack for Panmering movies, but it also sounds amazing to all genres of music.

However, it is not very useful in terms of game features. There is no RGB. There are no optional game-specific audio extensions. Perhaps most importantly, you cannot connect these straight to the system via USB. The speaker accepts digital coaxial or optical inputs, but the system requires audio output. Otherwise, I highly recommend it at a price of $399.

Steelseries Arena 7

Best midrange 2.1 computer speaker

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Steelseries Arena 7 Specifications:

force150W
Frequency response35-20,000
Audio Channel2.1 Stereo
connectionBluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm, Optical Input and Output, USB-C
Strong Points

  • Amazing, punchy sound
  • Versatile connection options
  • Attractive RGB lighting
Cons

  • Captive speaker cable
  • High price
  • The power switch is difficult to reach

Offering a big middle ground between premium prices and the capabilities of the Razer Nommo V2 Pro and Edifier S350DB and the cheap 2.1 speaker set, the Steelseries Arena 7 is an incredible midrange 2.1 speaker system.

This 2.1 system has a sophisticated design with punchy sound, with its sub providing ample power, and the satellite dual driver setup offers a wide frequency range. This combo means that the Arena 7 plays a wide range of games, so it’s just as home as you’re climbing loud drums and bass tracks.

You also get some extras from some of the games here by the RGB lighting from these speakers casting subtle glow behind the satellite. All of this is controllable using Steelseries’ GG software and I’ve especially enjoyed setting up the audio visualizer when listening to music.

In addition to that, there is a very versatile set of connection options, including not only USB-C for PCs, but also optical inputs and outputs. This is not a cheap speaker set, but it’s a balanced option.

Logitech Z407

Best value 2.1 speaker

Logitech Z407 Specifications:

force80W
Frequency response40Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel2.1 Stereo
connectionBluetooth 5.0/3.5mm/Micro USB
Strong Points

  • Great value
  • Small footprint
  • Clean and stylish design
Cons

  • It may not be refined with more volume
  • Remote functions vary by application
  • Satellites can be more powerful

The Logitech Z407 may not be the most powerful speaker system here, but it offers a sublime combination of shape and functionality at some of the prices of a large system. This is a 2.1 stereo system with no bells or whistles beyond neat circular remote and Bluetooth wireless functionality.

With 80W peak power supplies, the system fills the office and small bedroom, but provides decent output that will struggle as part of a larger home entertainment system. The 7.8 x 3.7 x 3.3 inch (20 x 9.4 x 8.5cm) satellite is given welcome legs by a 9.5 x 9.2 x 7.1 (24 x 23.4 x 18cm) subwoofer, which offers some low-end response at low volumes in the middle without overwhelming the desktop speaker’s output. Pushing the volume dial into the limit will cause the system to lose its way with a loose base and a distorted top end, but there is plenty of volume for normal office use.

All in all, the Z407 is a versatile set of 2.1 speakers, bringing a welcome roar to any home system in the detailed mid and high, and providing generous support for the low-end thanks to the system’s subwoofer.

Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2x

The best soundbar

Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2X Specification:

force180W
Frequency response50Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel2.1 Stereo/Virtual 5.1 Surround Sound
connectionaux / bluetooth / hdmi arc / optical / subwoofer / sxfi / usb-c
Strong Points

  • A handy controller
  • Solid build quality
  • The subwoofer provides a tamping base
Cons

  • Bland look
  • I’m having trouble filling a big room

The Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2X is a compact soundbar that can easily slip under most gaming monitors, but thanks to its huge subwoofer it can provide a very powerful sound. The SoundBar itself is packed into four speaker drivers: two tweeters and two midrange drivers.

This is not just a powerful soundbar, as it also has functionality. There is a display for viewing to get the remote control and display features such as inputs you are using, and you get the load of those connections. There are optical digital and analog inputs, USB inputs, headphone outputs, even HDMI inputs, and even Bluetooth.

The RGB strip runs along the front edge of the soundbar due to its full “gamer gear” effect, but it cannot be controlled by software. Otherwise, this is a neat, compact and inconspicuous addition to any desk. It’s not cheap at around $300, but this is one of the best soundbars in the class that’s easy to do.

Trust GXT 1619 / Redragon GS560

Best budget soundbar

PCGamesn Score 7/10
Trust GXT 1619/Redragon GS560 Specifications:

force12W (6W RMS)
Frequency response20Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel2.0
connectionUSB power, 3.5mm analog audio jack
Strong Points

  • Compact and smart design
  • Sound better than most monitors and laptop speakers
  • Run the USB power supply
Cons

  • There is no real bass
  • No Bluetooth or other additional connections
  • It’s a pain to connect a USB and an audio cable together

The Trust GXT 1619 is not sold in the US, but you can find a similar soundbar called the Redragon GS560 on Amazon.

For $35, the Trust GXT 1619 is a decent value purchase if you want to get an upgrade from a built-in speaker on your monitor or laptop. It gives you a deeper, larger audio signal than most monitors. This means that it’s enough to make music easier to listen to at a low volume and you can play the game without headphones.

This budget soundbar is also very compact, looks reasonably smart, includes RGB lighting, and all audio signal matching effects options are under $35. There are no special features here. The stereo image is so poor that you don’t get a good sense of direction in the game. But at that price, these are fair compromises.

Logitech Z906

Best 5.1 computer speaker

Logitech Z906 Specifications:

force1,000W
Frequency response35Hz -20kHz
Audio Channel5.1 Surround Sound
connectionAUX / Coaxial / Optical / 6 Channel Direct / RCA
Strong Points

  • THX certified
  • True 5.1 Surround Sound
  • Excellent build quality
Cons

  • The styling is monotonous
  • There is no HDMI input
  • There is no HD audio decoding

If you want a full-fledged surround system for gaming PCs, the options these days are very limited. However, I’m still doing a bit of Logitech on the Z906 system. This 5.1 set has correctly achieved legendary status in over a decade available. It features impressive 500W RMS power, and its subwoofer features a lightning-like base and five satellite speakers scatter crystal-sonic details around you.

With THX certification, the Logitech Z906 also makes for a great movie viewing experience. Plus, its 5.1 surround sound is available in many of the best PC games. The ability to toggle multiple inputs makes it easy to change your PC, phone, or console. For even more versatility, you can add a Logitech Bluetooth adapter to play sound wirelessly through the system.

For $400, this isn’t a cheap set of speakers, but it’s much more effective and convenient than just about any combination of an AV receiver and an individual 5.1 speaker.

Logitech G560

The best RGB computer speakers

PCGamesn Score 8/10
Logitech G560 Specifications:

force120W RMS (240W peak)
Frequency response40Hz -18 kHz
Audio Channel2.1
connectionUSB, 3.5mm, Bluetooth
Strong Points

  • Powerful RGB light with Logitech LightSync support
  • Powerful 2.1 sound
  • Convenient Bluetooth connection
Cons

  • There is no power in the slightly lower midrange
  • The satellite speaker design is a bit strange

If you’re looking for a set of gaming speakers that can be synchronized with the rest of the system’s RGB lighting, the Razer Nommo V2 Pro is a great choice, but it’s expensive. For about half the price, the $200 Logitech G560 is a great option that can be synchronized with the system via Logitech’s LightSyNC system.

The lighting is integrated into the satellite speakers and passes through the loops on the rear disc and the front of the speaker. The actual design of the satellite is a bit odd, but it can wash the excess RGB quite effectively.

However, the controls at the top of the right speaker are compact and convenient, easy to reach, easy to set up, and you can get Bluetooth to connect your phone, tablet or other mobile device.

The sound from this set is extremely powerful, with a total of 120W of power rating. As you would expect from a large subwoofer, the bass is rich and these speakers can easily withstand the duties of a house party. However, there is a slight gap between the powerful sub and the rather small satellite, so low midrange frequencies are not very good. What I found was not my favorite to listen to genres like rock and metal.

How to Choose the Best Computer Speaker

The first place to start when selecting a computer speaker is to consider whether you only need two desktop speakers (2.0), two speakers, a subwoofer (2.1), or surround sound (5.1). In general, 2.0 speakers offer the best clarity at any price compared to other options, especially when the listening volume is low.

However, if you’re pounding the bus and listening to a lot of music and wanting it even when you watch games or movies, you might prefer the 2.1 set. Surround sound is really great for certain types of games and is amazing for movies too, but it takes up a lot of space, the set is more expensive and is not available these days.

The next factor to consider is, of course, cost. You can’t get surround sound under $100, and none are under $200. However, with 2.0 and 2.1 systems, you spend much less and get a decent sound. You can get reasonable 2.0 and 2.1 speakers for $50 to $80, but there are quality 2.0 speakers at $100 and 2.1 sound, which are $150.

Speaker size is another important consideration. Some of your favorite 2.0 speakers are very large, so if your desk space is limited, using a 2.1 system with smaller desktop speakers may be better. However, in general, the bigger the speaker, the better the sound, so if possible it’s worth avoiding too small.

Connectivity is another major factor in computer speakers. Bluetooth is often included, making it easy to connect your phone or tablet, but many people can use a USB connection (which can also power the speakers) to save you the need to use a flashy sound card on your PC. However, many best-sounding 2.0 speakers use a simple analog stereo set input set, so everything depends on priority. If you’re looking for a dedicated portable Bluetooth speaker, check out our Best Guide to Bluetooth Speakers for top recommendations.

For less important factors, almost all “game” features, such as special sound profiles, are a waste of time. For example, you can work with headphones in competitive gaming situations where the profile is adjusted to emphasize footsteps in a particular game, but it has not actually been translated into speaker use. I just want to get the best sounding speakers I can do for my money. The same goes for styling and RGB. If you like the look, you’ll go straight away, but it’s not going to do anything to enhance your game.

Computer Speakers Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Speaker or gaming headset?

Speakers certainly aren’t needed for every game setup, as the best gaming headset gives you more advantage in FPS gaming and often offers more immersion than speakers. However, it does not fill your office or gaming caves with high fidelity audio or fill your games. That’s especially true when you’re doing more than just gaming, but with friends.

Are monitors and laptop speakers good?

It is common for the best gaming monitors and laptops to produce sound without the help of the best PC speakers, but there is usually a compromise. With a few exceptions, even basic standalone computer speakers can make a big difference, as integrated speakers are almost always weak and produce small audio that doesn’t speak with clear, clear lack of sound.

What do 2.0, 2.1, and 5.1 mean?

The numbers displayed to describe a set of speakers simply refer to the number of speakers. The first number is the number of small satellite speakers, while the second digit is the number of subwoofers. Therefore, the 2.0 system is two satellites with two desktop satellite speakers, the 2.1 system is two satellites with one subwoofer, and the 5.1 is five satellites (two front, one front middle, two rear) and one subwoofer. And yes, in some high-end home cinema systems and real cinemas, you get a system with multiple subwoofers – 7.2 speaker system, who is it?

What size computer speaker should I go to?

When choosing the best gaming speaker for your PC, the first size is the size. If you have small desk space, you may want to use a small desktop speaker and a hidden 2.1 system to keep you out of the way of the floor, as there is probably no space for the large Hi-Fi style 2.0 desktop speakers. Alternatively, a soundbar under the monitor might be the ideal way to make the most of your space.

Conversely, maybe it’s the space where you choose the best gaming desks available at premium. Of course, there is a 5.1 surround sound system. This requires a lot of extra cables and does not take up as much space as needed somewhere behind to place the speakers behind. Surround sound is amazing, but it can be a hassle to accommodate most office/game spaces.

Is surround sound worth it?

Splashing the surround system really depends on the use of the speaker. As a general rule of thumb, if you’re watching movies regularly on your PC and want the most immersive experience, it’s a good idea to have a 5.1 or 7.1 system significantly improves that experience. On the other hand, if you are primarily using speakers to listen to music/audiobooks/YouTube videos before switching to your favorite headset for gaming, you will need a simple stereo/2.1 setup.

If you find the perfect PC speaker, choose the best gaming headset or the best gaming microphone with options for all your budget and needs and complete your Sonic setup.
