How do you defeat the Silk Song Savage Beast Fly? The oversized twin-eyed stumps and the savage Beast Fly Wish Quest encountered during the Hunter March have caused all sorts of chaos for players. If you’re here, it probably means you’re tired of being murdered by them and their floating legions of minions, or you’ve heard stories of horror from elsewhere. We feel your pain. Luckily, we have the technology to eventually abolish both.
One of the many Silkson coat of arms you can acquire is protected by this huge chunk. This Silk Song boss, like Moss’ mother, summons extra enemies for you to pursue, making the encounter quite busy. If you still get bearings in Hollow Knight Silk Song, the savage Beast Fly will be one of the most ruthless battles in the game. But healthy preparation makes it much easier to manage. Here’s how to defeat Savage Beast Fly: The forced spoiler warning doesn’t last until after the March Beast Fly section of Hunter, as it mentions certain bosses and locations that are not accessible until Act 2.
Where to find savage beasts in the hunter march
The March savage beast of the Hunter is located in the Beast Chapel in the lower right corner of the area. You will need a castaway cloak to navigate the chapel.
Rather than marching the hunter as soon as you find the entrance to the bone marrow, it is best to first scoop up excess mask debris and needle upgrades. Also, if you first travel to Greymore to unleash your Silkstorm abilities, it will help you manage your spahn, then there is much easier time. This means you won’t touch the area until you defeat the widow in Bell Heart, but it’s worth it for your sanity. Hunter March is, after all, a completely optional region, so I haven’t missed much by skipping for now.
Before heading to the chapel, it is best to grab a hunter’s march bench to avoid painstaking runs from bone marrow, deep docks, or far fields. Once inside, follow the linear route through the chapel. The chapel effectively takes you into a counterclockwise loop around the area. After drifting through the final tube of spikes, bump into the lever next to the bone door to open the shortcut before running left into the boss arena.
How to defeat a savage beast in the Beast Chapel
A savage beastfly is a simple enough enemy on paper. There are two distinctly integrated attacks – the long charge of the arena and the triple downward slam – and the screams summoned with the kiriki of the little beast and Spikespur. Determining the charge height of your Beastfly and managing spawns is where there are most of the time difficulties, so let’s talk about them first.
Usually, Beastfly has a short delay between preparing its charge and zooming. From what we’ve gathered, the height it charges is sometimes random, and the other times are based on the current position of the Hornet. At the very least, try to avoid jumping in between while winding. Beastflies often end up making intermediate jumps that are impossible to dodge the bottom and that pogo is impossible to put up. If you’re really struggling, spend your attempts to dodge the beast without impressive to get a real feel for how it works.
When it comes to summoning, use the available tools and Silk Storms to liberalize to remove small enemies as quickly as possible. If you have plenty of breathing space and can simply stop them as we do through the fight, then you can save your silk for healing. Reaper Crest brings great value here. Thanks to its Silk Generation Passive, you can quickly replenish yourself after binding.
Lee Park Rest is a great option during the fight due to its innate long strike, minimizing the chances of unnecessary contact damage. There are many opportunities to hit through battles. Before you can pogo the Beastfly floor dash, you can rotate and take additional strikes as you pass. Similarly, you can upslash that high charge. There is also a window where you can put your face on before charging begins.
A big DPS chance you want to take advantage of is to bang bang when the side of the Beast Fly makes a downward smash attack. Place yourself off almost two hornets from the landing point and swipe when it hits the ground. Like other Silk Song bosses, the faster you kill something, the less time you need to spend dealing with that mechanic. Our attempts are by no means clean (we were definitely not used to using the tools at that point), but it’s a right preparation and a very manageable battle.
Where to find savage beasts in distant fields
Far Fields Savage Beastfly is located in the fourth Chorus Boss Arena under Far Fields Bellaway. To create it, you must first accept the savage Beast Fly Wish Quest from the Bell Heart wishboard.
You will not be able to access this hunt until you defeat Cogwork Dancers in Act 2. Once the wish is picked up, you’ll return to where you defeated the fourth chorus of Far Fields to start Encounter. You can set the bench to Far Fields Bellway or run to Seamstress shed with a round shortcut hidden on the right side of Bellway to the Seamstress shed and set a reset point there.
On the second fly, ahead of the tango, we left and got our own wings. After beating the Cogwork Dancers, we headed through Whiteward to the east side of the underworks to obtain our Crawling Skills. From there we booked it in the slab, put out Mount Fay and gathered Faydown Macs.
But we didn’t just become more mobile. The best silk song tool is the absolute game changer of this fight. Because they try to preserve as much silk as possible for these emergency healing. For the loadout we brought a Stingshard. This allows you to get craft metal from the daughter of Forge at the 140 Rosary and Deep Dock. What really makes this setup shine is the PORYIP pouch, which was obtained by completing the Shellwood Polip Quest ritual. This blue charm applies poison to the tool and deals a ton of bonus damage over time.
Regarding other charm recommendations, Magma Bell (Blue Charm) reduces damage caused by falling into lava or being hit by fire-based attacks. This can be purchased from Forge daughters from 110 Rosary and 1 Craftmetal Deep Docks. A yellow charm that will help you well is the magnetite dice, and you will have the opportunity to cancel instances of damage. You can see why this is useful at the end of the video below. How to defeat a savage beast in a distant field
The second savage beastfly does not bring anything new to the table in terms of ability, so for a big man, you can continue to follow the advice above. However, this time there are two major differences. The terrain you are fighting for and the fact that Beastfly spawns in a sticky fireball turfle at a later stage.
Like the fourth chorus battle, Beastfly has a means to temporarily remove the arena floor blocks. Following Hornet’s move, it appears they are deciding which block to hit next based on her position when they start the backup. This means jumping into the magma and finishing the combo if it floats above a block that has already been removed. Don’t worry too much as it’s a difficult time to get off.
If anything, we try to manipulate the beast and hit all the other blocks, making the arena navigation very easy. Occasionally, run downward smash sequences twice in a row. In this example, we use clawlines, double jumps, and floats to keep them in the air until the platform reappears.
Once Savage Beastfly is phased out, they will begin calling out Tarflies. In Phase 2, you summon one and in the final phase you summon two Brighters. Take your step as these fire flame projectiles are telegraphing with their eyes as they begin to glow with their eyes and stick to the arena floor, as they are telegraphed with their eyes. If possible, it is best to kill these in these seconds.
During the Tarfly stage, you will begin using the tool. Depending on the number of tool upgrades we’ve picked up so far, one stitching shard is sufficient, but usually one sting shard is sufficient, but usually you’ll use two to make sure you die (it also increases boss-good damage). Pop a poisonous flea brew and it also produces poison mist. A downward smash on Beastfly will kill Tarflies on hits, but don’t expect it as a consistent way to manage spawns.
When Beast Fly dies, grab the item it drops, go back to the Bell Heart Wishboard and turn the quest, and reward you with a mask shard.
