What is the boss of Silk Song? Pharloom is full of bugs in all shapes and sizes, but some are undoubtedly more creepy and raw than the others. Like the Hollow Knight before that, Silkson’s battles seem to punish him, but there is the boss strategy you need to defeat all the main and optional bosses without losing all the masks.

The boss is a staple of Metroidvania games and we know that Hollow Knight Silksong has quite a challenge for Hornet. According to Team Cherry, there are over 40 bosses who will defeat Silksong. This isn’t too far from the 47 bosses that appeared in Hollow Knight. Based on that, Silksong expects around 15 main bosses and at least 25 optional bosses to find and beat maps.

Here are all the Silk Song bosses revealed so far:

  • Moss Mother
  • Bel Beast
  • Trivio
  • Seth
  • race
  • sharp
  • Carmellians
  • The last judge

Moss Mother

position: Moss Cave

Moss Mother is the first Silksong Boss battle and serves as a gentle skill check for the basic platform game mechanics. She tends to hover on either side of the battlefield, but stays within reach of the hornet at the top of the jump. Be careful when she dives to attack with her Stinger. This can be avoided with a simple jump. She also removes the rainy rocks from above and slams the ceiling.

Sequently hits will stun Moss’ mother, so beware of the spinning halo effect that appears on top of your head and allow them to sneak in one or two bonus hits. In the second half of the battle, Moss’ mother exchanges the falling rocks for her own children – so for a gentle parenting. Thankfully, these crawling creatures are easily dispatched with a quick hit of needles, and the battlefield becomes freely transparent to end Moss’ mother without hindering it.

Bel Beast is one of the bosses of Hollow Knight Silk Song.

Bel Beast

position: Bone marrow

The Belbeast is trapped in a silk coco, but don’t expect to be grateful if she releases her. She resembles the deepest dirt carver with plated shells, masked faces, and five pairs of legs used to run around the battlefield. Despite her huge bulk, she appears to have a similar style of movement as the giant Hollow Knight Moss Charger. Thankfully, both of these attacks can be countered with simple Dodge and follow-up attacks.

On defeat, the Belbeast becomes Silkson’s fast travel mount, just like the last stag in Hollow Knight. Fast travel is usually a feature in Metroidvanias’ mid-games, and is only available after a sufficient exploration of a map that will make players cumbersome to trek from one to the other, and we expect this to be carried over in silking.

Trobbio is one of the bosses of Hollow Knight Silksong.

Trivio

Known as the “master of stages, brushes and voices”, Trobubio is a fame-hungry Cespian who roams the Falrooms looking for a new audience. The Hornet has front row seats for his show as he summons a line of fireworks with explosive flaps of his butterfly wings. Given his light-hearted nature, Trobbio could become an NPC after we defeat him – or, like Grimm in Hollow Knight DLC, a repetitive boss of a rival who is at least more friendly than a deadly enemy.

Seth is one of the bosses of Hollow Knight Silk Song.

Seth

Seth is an ancient guardian who claims to have been chosen by the voice. He too fastincredible strength and stamina seeped into him, and he charges forward to absorb the attack with his shield and attack with his pin. This makes him particularly dangerous in a near quarter. It’s better to dodge his offensive attacks than to try to break his guards. His pins have enough range to deal damage from behind, so wait for him to complete his animation before you retaliate. Occasionally, Seth places himself on one side of the Hornet, jumps into the air and throws a shield at her, then zips to the other side and bouncing back before catching.

Like Trobbio, Seth is likely a non-combat NPC, and Hornet may even have the opportunity to meet him and become friends with him in optional quests. Seth has a heartfelt backstory outside of Silksong. He is a fan-made character designed by Seth Goldman, a fan of the Hollow Knight who died from Ewing’s Sarcoma a few years ago. In Goldman’s own words, “(Seth) is really cool.”

One of the bosses of Race, Hollow Knight Silk Song.

race

The race is another skill check boss, but this fight requires you to prove your mastery of the Hornet’s unique moves. This supple fencer follows the tradition of the smallest boss hollow knights, as the most deadly challenge. She depletes the pin with lethal accuracy with a series of forward thrusts, swipes, and static gusts of wind attacks.

She can quickly move to the Hornet position, but jumps into the air before making an oblique downward dash attack. The race can block consecutive attacks, but like Moss’ mother, she can remain unwell after receiving sufficient damage, so she has the opportunity to give him a punishment. In the second half of the battle, avoid the circle of light that appears regularly – this is the second that indicates you will get before she teleports and cut off before you unleash the devastating combo finisher.

We hope that Hornet’s encounter with Race will reflect the Knight’s own encounter with Hornet at Hollow Knight. During your first encounter, beware of the lava on either side of the boss room platform. It’s very easy to accidentally fall while you’re busy dodging the attacks of the race.

Sharp is one of the bosses of Hollow Knight Silk Songs.

sharp

Steel Assassin Sharpe is a genuine bug hunter and Hornet is his next target. He has an extended account that can be used like a whip, and flicks it in front of him. This attack animation is surprisingly formidable. Not only is there a long distance, but it’s also tall enough for a backstroke, and it’s not easy to dodge. Thankfully, there are long windings too, so you need to make sure you don’t get in the way. Ideally, you want to go behind Sharp while he’s trapped in this animation, but this requires you to jump on him as soon as possible.

Like lace, Sharp is the boss of a recurring silk song and could play a major role in the lore of Farroom. He also brought back-ups to help him conquer the Hornet. In particular, one of Sharp’s companions is very similar to Steel Soulgin, a Dartmouth merchant with an unknown master. As Hornet continues her quest, there is no doubt that she will reveal Sharp’s true motivations.

Hunter Queen Carmelita and one of the bosses of Hollow Knight Silk Song.

Carmellians

Hunter Queen Calmerita is the elegant monarch of Ali and dances to her tunes, so get in the way of it with your danger. She spins her twin dual blade daggers and flips through the air, making it difficult to hold them in. As she dives into either side of the stage, she resists the urge to dash to hit immediately, as lines of sharp spikes erupt from Earth just before her position. It’s not the first time he’s fought a deadly boss in front of a Hollow Knight audience. Hornet’s dance at Carmelita is a performance to remember. Don’t get stage fear.

One of the bosses of the last judge, Hollow Knight Silk Song.

The last judge

The last judge is both a rare variety of fast silk song bosses and It’s big, making him particularly difficult to beat. His thin size makes it nearly impossible to dodge him when he is standing in Full Heights, but the Hornet can almost clear his forward charge with timing jumps – don’t forget to squeeze it with a free downward strike when you go. Normally, at the pinnacle of his accusation, the equal distance feathers of the fire burst from under the battlefield, so don’t try to chase him.

The last judge exercises the war he throws into the Hornet’s position. That winding animation is similar to the charging ahead of him, so don’t let him bait you and jump into Thurible’s path. Finally, he occasionally jumps into the air and starts a slam on the ground. This can be easily avoided with a basic horizontal dash. Ultimately, the final judge boss fight is all about positioning.

Being familiar with all the silk song bosses you know so far, get ready to trek through Pharlooom using the requirements of a hollow night silk song system. We also have a full confirmation on Silksong’s release times so we can proceed to Team Cherry’s highly anticipated indie game sequel as soon as possible.
