The Procession to Calvary is an adventure game with a twist of medieval comedy. Solo developer Joe Richardson employs the typical style of stop-motion animation popularized by Terry Gilliam, leading it to point and click. It will still be a good time if this medieval game just creates an opening and a deal blow, but Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord’s Scelchy Skirmishes takes place in a rather medieval sandbox. Fighting factions and empires will help you increase the size of your Bannerlord party by hiring enough bribery, dealing with Bannerlord Caravans, best Bannerlord Companions, Bandit Raids, SideQuests, Arena Delels and Bannerlord workshop management all side by side. But while Bad North is a minimalist Roguelike game, Northgard is swooping down by a fully hatched RTS Seagull, swooping down to steal time and possibly chips.
This isn’t just one of the Build-Clicky-Attacky variety RTS games. Certainly, it has it, but there is also a embodied town management system. Recruiting can be assigned to different roles of residents, and different winning conditions allow for different playstyles. Also, if you obtain the DLC, you will have a Battle Cat. perfection.
Empire Age 2
Age of Empires 4 may be a new game, but we still love the born and definitive edition of Age of Empires 2 for medieval combat. It’s not strictly a series of medieval games, but it handles each era so well that it’s absolutely important.
This is evidence of how well these classic titles are, and that we are talking about such a high acclaimed second game. It features classic RTS combat with large unit variety, trade and vast technology trees. It still has a rather healthy competitive scene.
Conqueror’s Blade
Conqueror’s Blade is a free-to-play MMO set in gory medieval, playing as a warlord in command of the army, leading selected units into an epic 15v15 PVP battle. You can explore the battlefield from a third person and top-down perspective and see that you narrow down any advantages from positioning. You can participate in field battles and sieges, and have great control over your fighting style thanks to the large number of weapons and units you can customize.
